Boost controller stopped working, boosting 25 psi constantly.

my boost controller no longer does anything. i have a greddy profec b (the original not spec II). and i turn the low boost to its lowest, which in the manual says is the stock setting and it still boosts at 25 psi. no adjustments i make on the controller make a difference. it worked up until i had my turbo taken off and looked at because i just replaced it and they were just checking it out to make sure everything was a go. help.

check your vac lines to the solenoid

Yeah I would look at the vac lines first, if they are good then look at the solenoid. If someone was just playing with the turbo they most likely didn't put one of the vac lines back on and this would cause your turbo to just keep boosting.

noob question. where do i look for the solenoid

It is a small black box with vac lines running from it to the turbo/wg. Should be mounted close to the turbo.

one of the vac lines was damaged and fixed with black tape so i wouldnt see it. may have been like it before and i just never noticed. replaced that hose and still have the same problem. i did notice however that there was no clamp at the connection to the wastegate but it was still attached and looks like there never was one (no imprint or marks).

bypass the EBC step motor and see if you end up running around 15psi which should be the spring rate of the wg actuator.

well the controller defaults back to fully open when the controller is off... this means you have a mechanical solenoid problem or a vac line prob

i turned it off again and this time its 15. must have been a fluke the first time.
