nah, some of the stock wheels on C5 are Et43 or 45... just be careful on older models with big caliper..

think there would be an issue with my 01 avant to have 44et wheels? I have stock calipers.

    Re: Quick question on offsets.......

stock b5 s4 wheels are an et45 i believe. they clear the big brakes because the spokes are completely flat from the inside of the wheel, so you can get away with an et45. most oem audi wheels are et45 and shouldnt cause much of an issue. got to be careful when you start getting into lipped wheels with curved spokes, sometimes et35s just barely clear the hp2 calipers

b5 s4 is 35mm, 2.7t a6 pre-facelift 35mm, and Gigi's a6 has different cause its facelift model...Avant will be same as A6 with the same engine and year.

    Re: Quick question on offsets.......

yeah, i am sure, b5 s4 has HP2 calipers and 35mm, same as 2000 (pre-facelift) 2.7t, maybe they were b6 s4 (same design different offset and can be 18s)? then they have different offset, Your car is 2001 2.7t,so im not sure what calipers do you have, but you right, the fitment also depends on the rim design.
For Avant it should be easier tho, if he has et40 he can put 5mm spacers and call it a day:)

    Re: Quick question on offsets.......

I have a 2000 A6 with the HP2 calipers. My factory wheels are 45et in 16 inch size. I was at a local shop yesterday and they had a B5 S4 (2000 S4) on the lift. It had the same exact brakes and had its factory 17x7.5 inch wheels but I never looked at the offset. If they fit that car, they'll fit ours. I want to find a good set of 18's for under $1000 for the wheels and tires. E-bay had a million sets but none fit the 2.7T cars. I just bought tires for the 16's until I see a good set on a car with these exact brakes. I only hear that people think something would fit but no proof or pics.

    Re: Quick question on offsets.......

so a 45 will stick the wheel out of the fender 10mm if your car calls for a 35mm offset

    is this correct?

The lower the offset the more it will stick out to the fender.

    Re: Quick question on offsets.......

Also depends on width. I have 18x8 with et30 and they sit flush with the edge of the fender. Had to roll the fenders. Plenty of caliper clearance.

Here is a link that should help. And spacers reduce the effective offset. On my Z I used a 20mm spacer on an et45 for an effective et25..

    Link-
    http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

Doesnt reflect brake clearance, since that is more dependent on spoke thickness as well. But that will show you where it will come in reference to the fender and if it will hit inside, and also calculate a width change.

    Hope it helps man..

same here. my ET30 18x8.5 RS6 reps rubbed just a little. My new ET45 18x8 Oetty RZs with 10mm spacers (ET35) are ok but does not look so well as the ET30 ;) I think I'll try some 15mm Spacers since these are a half an inch narrower...
