Question about wheels... might be a little stupid.

Ok so im getting ready to purchase some new wheels for my car. I was wondering if i need to spend the big dollars to make sure they wont fall apart on me. I do a lot of driving and usually a steady 100+ so i dont want to have wheels that will fall apart if thats a posibility. tell me what you think i was looking at a set of VMRs. V714

No personal experience w/ the VMRs but they seem to be a popular choice. If you really want a solid wheel then get something that's forged ($$$$ though). For the price of a new VMR package, you might be able to snag a used set of forged wheels, which I would opt for. Honestly though, if you hit a pothole or bump going 100+ I don't think anything is guaranteed to hold up.

Forged wheels don't always have to cost an arm and a leg. You could probably find a set for around $2000 on tirerack or somewhere else without tires. To me, that isn't $$$$. Not because I have a lot of money (which I don't), but if you're going 100+ on the regular, spend the couple hundred bucks extra and don't fear for your life the entire time you drive.

VMR wheels are pretty good. We also have their representative on here on AZ, forged wheels are also strong.
Post this specific question in Tire/Wheel forum.

    Hi guys!

We are a sponsor on this forum and our name is pretty well known around this board. Be rest assured you are getting a great product at an affordable price. All of our wheels have met/exceeded all there safety/strength tests. Our wheels have passed all JWL, VIA standards. So far, our line of wheels are 1 piece cast which are very durable wheels. We have track tested a few as well. Im not sure what you mean by you're afraid of our wheels falling apart on you? and how forged rims are better? If you are trying to relate them to 100+ mph speeds, then both wheels are on the same level. You can hit anything and they are both going to bend. Forged wheels dont necessarily mean they are stronger. Forging uses less materials and high pressure to give that light weight wheel but with the costly price. I hope i cleared up a few questions on here and if any of you guys have questions, feel free to PM me or email me at [email protected]

    Thanks,
