Picked up an RS4....The RS4 build thread!

Ya, I arez a n00b, but I bringz eye candiez....

I live in Des Moines, Iowa and my best friend in Baghdad ordered an RS4 and I had the pleasure of picking it up for him. I will also be modding it for him with a few mods before putting it away for the winter...

The car is amazing. It sounds like heavenly sex and drives like a charm. I have never been a vw/Audi fan, but I must say I love this car.

Its Mugello Blue with white leather and piano black interior. Also, as you will shortly see, it has the Titanium package as well. Audi Corporate said this is the only one of its kind in the USA, not sure how true that is. Its possible since the car was custom ordered in February 2008 and we picked it up on Saturday, June 21st, 2008.

I will be looking for advice, tricks and tips when installing mods and I hope to talk to the experts here.

I have experience turning wrenches having owned Hondas, Mitsubishis and currently have a Lancer Evolution track car project I am working on for myself...

We have already installed a K&N filter in the car. I will list the rest of the mods that are coming for it in this thread....

yes, well, I was his power of attorney, so yeah you can say we ar. Indeed, we are very good friends and I only have 1 other friend who is that close. I would die for the 2 guys, really.

Currently, just the basic stuff as listed below and picked out by the owner. I just get-r-don :)

1) Window tint - 3M crystalline window tint film - expensive stuff. $400 for a 25 ft roll. We are tinting it 50% as Iowa has strict tint laws and anything below 70% is illegal. Plus, cops have nothing to do, so they have to find excuses and get ticketed like crazy, mates!

2) Hotchkis swaybars - front and rear

3) Goodyear F1 tires - 275/30/19

4) STaSis OHlin coilovers

5) GMG Racing Exhaust - Sounds heavenly.

Anyone know how to get rid of the orange signals in the front bumpers? My buddies 335i has a body colored signal which is awesome. I was wondering if someone made these for the Audi.

Else, anyone know if there are cleared or smoked euro versions?

Agreed. Although when I ordered my car I was SO SO specific that I didnt want a front plate mounted. They said it was illegal, I said thats my problem and took delivery of the car without the front plate mounting and all. Im sure you could have argued your way out with that too.

Hello! I would be the guy in Baghdad. KC is indeed my best friend and he's helping me out with this project.

As far as what we make in Iraq, we make the same that we do stateside per hour, but we work 2.5 times the hours and get some tax breaks. (not 100% tax free) I'm a network modeling and simulation engineer/architect with 14 years experience and a laundry list of certs so I'll leave it at that.

The RS4 has been a dream car of mine since the B5 version, I didn't want to the B7 to slip away and then have to wait 3 years for another variant. (Plus we did not get the B5 stateside and it would really piss me off if the next version skipped us!!!!!)

I figured this was my last shot for quite some time to pull trigger or forget about it. I orderd the car in February of this year, KC took delivery last weekend.

When I do come back to the states, I plan to track the car on a regular basis, but more of a 7/10ths - 8/10ths kind of thing. I'm looking for smooth/fast/controlled.

I'm previously coming from an Evo VIII and G35 as far as performance cars.

I had a chance to take an RS4 out in Bahrain earlier this year while mine was on order and I'm dying to see mine!

Do they make an RS style grill to swap too? I've seen the S4 front filler plates but not RS4 style front filler plates....

o my effing god!!!! this is incredible. I like the custom package. awesome !!!
get some really nice coilovers, like KW V3, Bilstein PSS9/10. do you have clear bra on the entire front nose? if not i suggest you do that because that paint job is too pretty to be ruined.
some nice exhaust for it as well. search up a thread that talked about some tune willl reflash your ECU that gets rid of the flat spots in the engine. you will get like 20hp more iirc. you car will sound even better after that.

Yeah, Ryan has ordered a set of coilovers and swaybars as I mentioned above which should change the handling 100%. The Goodyear F1 tires will also greatly help in this dept.

We installed the K&N right after we picked it up. GMG exhaust will be coming soon and possibly the Revo flash to button things up together.

This car is pretty close to perfect, just a few things to make it a little more track worthy someday. Perhaps SS brakelines, some better gripping pads like Hawk HP Plus and some brake fluid is all it needs.

I hate that law too.Not sure where to get a Cf one but these guys have all the OEM others.

I'm a contractor-previously 6 years Active Duty. I actually enjoy being here and supporting what we're trying to do, as crazy as that sounds. This is my second year in Baghdad.

I know of a company that's working on producing a carbon fiber front filler plate. However I'm not at liberty to say whom. If I remember correctly their time frame should be within the next couple months. I'll make sure I take pictures when I get mine!

I have to say that the is my all time favorite color combo. If i saw it on a lot, it would be mine in a heartbeat. Can't wait to see the finished product.
