DICE ipod installed, but bass is missing

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
hey guys, i was hoping someone could help me out. i installed the DICE ipod integration kit in my car this past sat. here's my info:

    DICE i-AUDI-R
    2006 A4 Symphany II (w/tape deck)
    3rd Gen ipod nano

i got it hooked up and working. music plays, and controls work properly. as i was using it over the weekend, i noticed one thing that seemed odd to me. the music was missing the normal bass. i checked that my ipod eq settings were turned off. i also checked my radio eq settings. i even tried turning on the bass enhancer eq on the ipod, as well as adjusting the ipod volume... but to no avail.

this is odd because i hear reviews about how good the DICE sound quality is. has anyone else faced this problem? can anyone shed some advice on this issue? any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

hit disc + until you get to disc5. Then hit track 2. Then go to disc 1. I don't have the manual in front of me, but gain is first, then the rest should all be set to 50.

    Gain- 68
    bass- 50
    treble 50
    mids 50

Then go back to disc 5, and chose track1. Then back to disc 1 to listen as normal. You can download or print the manual from their site.

Re: DICE ipod installed, but bass is missing

ok, i checked out the settings, and they were correct. also, the manual said those gain settings are for the AUX audio source. so i'm still stuck with inadequate bass.

    any more suggestions?

Change the eq on your ipod to something with more bass.

i don't think the ipod eq or vol is affecting the output sound from the ipod. i've played with both, and i don't hear a difference.

comparing the ipod to a cd is like night and day...

Oops, missed that part. I know on mine if I put a dance or rock EQ the bass is much more noticeable. Did you recheck the install? Maybe you have a faulty unit.

If you hook up the "DICE", do you loose the ability to use you CD changer to play CDs?

Re: DICE ipod installed, but bass is missing

i got the dice kit from:

    http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_s..._I_AUDI_R.html

gave them a call today, and talked to the tech, john. he figured out that my satellite radio was the culprit for the loss of bass. my unit came with xm radio option. i'm not planning on using the xm radio, so i thought i could just connect the dice unit and forget about the xm radio.

well, without the sat pass cable they offer, the input ends up using the signal for both units (dice and xm radio). and the ipod essentially was sending the sound signal to both the head unit and xm radio... therefore weakening the signal strength.

john explained to me 2 options... one would be to buy the sat pass adaptor cable so that it splits the signals and allows me to use both inputs. i don't intend on using the xm radio, so he gave me option 2... disable the xm radio signal path. so essentially i have to disconnect the xm radio by snipping 3 wires on the dice adaptor connector.

i haven't done it yet, so i can't verify whether or not it resolves my problem. i will try it tonight and report back. keeping my fingers crossed!

Re: DICE ipod installed, but bass is missing *resolved*

    ok, it worked!

keep in mind that this method disables your satellite radio functions. if you want to retain the satellite radio functions, you need to get the sat-pass cable from enfig. i'm not planning on using the satellite radio, so here's how i did it:

    1) locate the T-connector cable supplied by DICE. the one with 2 red connectors.
    2) locate the side that the stereo connector (from behind the dash) connects to. the side that doesn't plug into the radio unit.
    2) in the red connector, there are wired coming out of it. on one side there is a group of cables, on the other side, the is a row of 3 wires... 3 wires in a vertical formation. the colors are red, white, and black. you'll know it when you see them. these 3 wires are the ones that send the signal to the satellite radio module.
    3) cut those 3 wires. make sure they are the wires on the DICE cable, and not the ones from the car. tape each one up individually with electrical tape or plastic tubing. just make sure none of the wires connect to anything. that should do the trick!

i have my bass back! thanks to john at enfig, who was a huge help! he could've just told me to buy the sat pass cable, but instead, he listened to my needs and he helped me resolve my problem w/o having to spend any more $$$.
