    Installed Snub Mount

Just got done installing the APR snub mount. Happy with the results. Little vibration around 800-1000 RPM's, but no biggie. Shifting is cleaner and you feel the motor more.

    Re: Installed Snub Mount

I have a new tip, for installing any mount on the car too almost reduce vibrations completely!

As Lee (rxrep) has stated, let the car idle (no throttle blips) for like 30 seconds and then shut the car off and tighten. I have found this method to be half true. Letting the car idle will let the mounts vibrate themselves into postion, but then when turning the car off, it can unseat them. Instead, let the car idle for like 30 seconds, and then tighten the mounts down with the car still on!

Thanks for the info. Have you tried it? It makes sense though. When I installed it today I shut it off and then tightened the bolts. I might try and do it the way you suggested.

Of course I have tried it.

About 3 months ago I did my motor mounts (and in doing so i had to remove my snub mount). Anyways, after that it had always vibrated, (because i shut the car off), but just last week, I found my snub mount to be cracked in half, so I duct taped it together (temporarily) and it was a BITCH to squeeze it into its bracket, so I though that it would vibrate a hell of alot more. But while I was under the car taking it out, I though how turning off the car would just unseat the mount alltogether. So I just let it idle for like a minute and then tightened it down and no there a LITERALLY ZERO vibrations! I used to be able to feel it in my butt and back and now it is as smooth as ever!

    Re: Installed Snub Mount

FedEx says my Apikol will be here Thursday. My stock one is apparently crumbling.

FireF - did you use ramps? I don't know the orientation of the parts yet, so I was wondering if the fact that the car will be on an incline will affect the settling motion that the idle is supposed to cause.

I used car ramps like the APR site suggested. Don't think it would make a big difference if you used either a jack or ramps, but the ramps are safer!

    Re: Installed Snub Mount

    ^^

old guy sent me a link where he suggests putting the front of the car on ramps such that the car is level - like pulling to the end of a driveway so that the back would be level when pulling onto the ramps.

Looking forward to installing this week...
