    spare tire question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
hey....when I purchase some aftermarket wheels....what happens to the spare. I mean...if I go with 19's right. Standard 235/35/19 and I get a flat....is it safe to use the OEM 18? Only asking cause I know about the quattro and the wheels have to be withing a certain percentage of each other and all....can I ride around with the OEM in the back without worrying that i'll destroy my rear or diff if used.

asking because most used sets of wheels are just 4....and I've never seen this asked before. thanks,.

    Re: spare tire question

You should go with 245/35/19 for better grippy =)
Yes it is fine because the profile of the tire becomes lower, therefore the rolling diameter is still equal! what kind of wheels are you looking at?

You can do that or just by 5 wheels like I did.

Does a 19" wheel fit in the OEM B6 S5 spare tire well?

Don't waste the money. You'll probably never get a flat.

    Re: spare tire question

those tires will be fine (rolling diameter). I heard taht 19s wont fit in the spare-wheel well though... (which nullifies the possibility of buying 5 wheels) although I dont know if that is true. I guess if i get a flat (knock on wood) driving wont be the problem but just throw the flat tire in the trunk instead of in the proper storage thing (under trunk)

    Re: spare tire question

    1. yes you can probably fit the 19"tire into the back, but i would run a stocker
    2. Running 18" even with the same thickness tire is fine, since youll be changing it anyway soon
    3. dont count your chickens, manhole came out of nowhere about two weeks ago and blew out both right side tires, luckily I had a spare and the rear was just a bad bubble so I nursed it home.

    Re: spare tire question

Here's an idea! Get an RS4 setup for your trunk. We don't have spares in our trunks, only a compressor. Check it out. It might be for you.
