If you are anywhere near Cherry Hill (which I am assuming given your 609 area code) give AutoSpeed Performance a call. They specialize in Audi and VWs.

Doug is probably right, he usually is.

But just for a comparison so you know how right he is give these folks a call.

    clicky click

If I may say so, the OEM RS4 clutch made by LUK ought to be more than enough for the car and will retain stock-like driveability. And they're a good value, being able to find one online though a forum (E.G. AZ, AW, AG, AF, etc) is also an option, as well as eBay. Not to mention the VR6 clutch or even the OEM A4 clutch, which my mechanic assured me is good to stg. III.

Otherwise many people seem to like the Southbend clutches, with differing tastes depending on mod plans and engagement point. Try searching Southbend OFE, HD and so on. And there's a recent thread I replied to saying the same thing about OEM clutches titled something about how much power a clutch can take where Old Guy gives his advice.

Organic, IIRC, and same power as an RS4 plus an engineered safety margin. The US spec 2.7t Allroad uses the same clutch plate too.

    Re: B6 Clutch HELP!!!

^it wont... i looked into that already. lol

and FWIW - the s4, rs4, and allroad (anything with a 2.7TT) all share the same clutch and DMFW... the difference is in the pressure plate. (the rs4 being stiffer)

also, i dont know why your mechanic told you that an OEM A4 clutch could handle a stage 3 setup... but my AWE stage 3 couldn't handle my stage 3 setup... and it was DEFINITELY a better clutch than the stocker. *that being said, the AWE is a great clutch kit - and it could take the power from a roll... but not on a hard launch.*

    Re: B6 Clutch HELP!!!

You will need a custom flywheel to run the 240m clutchs.

ECS makes one in both steel and aluminum:

    as does Spec:

how would aluminum hold up on a feramic clutch disc? would it clog the surface of the disc if slipped?

Most all aluminum flywheels now use a steel insert ring. Most of the flywheels that dont have the ring are Billet Steel. Aluminum wont hold up to the heat the friction from the disk will produce and would warp very easy.

the aluminum flywheel has a replaceable steel insert for the clutch surface. but that begs the question in my mind would it be more prone to chatter or warping. over time and harsh use?
I like spec's steel flywheel it looks like one solid piece that could be reused a few times.

Well the heat can still travel thru the insert and chatter increases as the flywheel gets lighter/less dense. I had way more chatter with my 12 lbs billet aluminum flywheel then I do with the 16 lbs billet steel. The Spec 16 lbs flywheel seems to be the flywheel most people buy now since it is a bit lighter then stock but not so light that it changes how the car needs to be driven but still makes the engine more responsive.
