    Re: Subwoofer issues

I haven't done a sub install yet (plan on it very soon, 10w7) but I believe that since our cars do not have RCA pre-outs... you may need the stock amp to stay in the vehicle to run the wiring through it.

It may have something to do with the Hi-Lo convertor needed (no RCA's).

actually... that doesnt help since you still don't know where the amp is.

I believe it is mounted at the "top" of the trunk where the stock sub is located. By the "top" i mean the bottom of the read deck-lid area (where rear window sits)

Dont know if that helped at all but good luck

The amp is behind the right (or passenger side) wall of the trunk

    This should help

    Re: Subwoofer issues

While we are on it, can't you just replace the stock sub mounted in the trunk with a better version? I don't want to put a huge sub in or anything, just maybe upgrade the stock one with a better piece. Any suggestions? I haven't really even looked at it that much.

Do all B6 A4's come with a stock trunk mounted sub? Or just ones with the premium package?

    Re: Subwoofer issues

You technically could replace the stock sub with a different one, but it would be kinda a waste without a more powerful amp to power it. The other problem is finding a "low profile" sub that will fit in the narrow space. I think someone found some JVC sub that fit in there but do a search to be sure. I hope I'm satisfied with the stock sub in my next car cuz I hate all the trunk space I lost for my 1 12". Luckily car makers seem to have gotten closer to the point these days and most stock "premium" systems have pretty legit bass (of course an aftermarket system would still be better)
