Quick question... Y pipe paint ?

would you use duplicolors high heat paint or the engine enamel on the plastic Y pipe?? there are more color choices with the enamel but less with the high heat just wondering what people have used thanks

use high heat paint otherwise its going to discolor

You can really use either or...

The pipe itself doesnt get too hot but like nizmo said.. depending on the color.. Its could change in color.

I used car paint on mine, and have had no issues.

thanks both you guys! i went with silver, but im actually doing a little extra on mine, my plan is to take VAST performance stickers that I have and apply them on the pipe, spray it with blue, let that dry, KEEP stickers there, go over everything in silver so its a nice shiny finish, then remove the stickers and have VAST on my y pipe in blue :). lol.

cool idea. i am in the process of painting mine now. i am about to wet sand the paint.

oh dam you are getting into it. i bet its gonna come out awesome. what grit sandpaper should i use in the beginning to clean up the Y pipe before paint?

i used 220 and 400 grit to make the y-pipe smooth before the primer. then i used 2000 grit to sand down the primer. i applied my first coat of paint today. so, i am going to sand that down with the 2000 when the paint dries.

what primer did you use ?? do i have to do that or are you just taking it to the highest level of perfection lol. i mean i dont want to do a shitty job just i havent read about the primer!

yea definitly sand the y pipe good before painting ,it will come out so much smoother,and when applying the paint, spray light coats it will take time but itll make it much better since it wont run, then wet sand and continue untill its smooth and shiney

lol get sandpaper that works with wet sand. it should say wet or dry on the back of it 3M makes em. and just sand with water
