    What size is the sub?

I know this has been asked many times and I even searched avant subwoofer perfectly and found all the possible threads but it seems no one has or gave a 100% official answer as to the size of it. I was going to go outside and just rip off the side but ill see what I get here first. So what size is the stock subwoofer in the avant. I have had people say 6" then some say 6.5" and someone said 8". Please anyone with a true answer let me know then they thread can be laid to rest. Thanks.

Re: What size is the sub?

For the sedans they are 6.5". Don't know about the avants though, but I think they are the same. link

Can I ask you, if you are planning on replacing them, what is the wattage and brand name you would recommend? I have 2 10" subwoofers, but now I need midranges.

    Thanks!

Re: What size is the sub?

Well thats kind of hard to say considering its mostly about personal preferences though a few major brands but If I had to say any I would go with some nice Boston Acoustics. I had a whole system of them in my old car and it could not sound better. I don't have 2 like you because I don't have a rear deck, 2 tweets in front doors along with 2 midrange and 2 midrange for the rear doors then one hidden sub in the trunk so im trying to find out its size.

Re: What size is the sub?

i think is a 6in free air sub. I'm installed a jl 8w6 with a jl 250/1 amp. It should sound nice and tight. the stock system sounds like a floppy whore. I went with a jl 8 because of the shallow mounting depth and small enclosures. I'm gonna fiberglass up a box into the drivers side cubby whole.

The JL 8 is a nice sub. I have two W3v2 8's in my truck and they pound for being 8's. The bass is crystal clear too. I also have the 250/1 pushing them.

Re: What size is the sub?

Poopie let me know how it turns out. I wanted to do that but I don't want to remove my 6 disc, I kind of like it. I'm going to take it out and see if I cant fashion a 8" into the 6" spot with some modding.

Re: What size is the sub?

I've been trying to remove the panel in my avant to get to the stock sub.

However, I can't get the striker bolt out. It's the long bolt that the seat back locks into when it's not folded down.

I've tried a deep socket but It wasn't long enough. Any tips on removing this bolt?
