As much as gas prices suck....I really dont let them affect me....I drive the hell out of my car, and fill up like every week @ $65 a fill up. Although, it hurts to see the prices go up, atleast I am enjoying my car

I forget what it was but like 2.5 years ago I heard on the radio when we were paying like $3 gallon for gas for premium that the oil industry made like 30 or 50 billion dollars.

I agree with absolutegtr, I still drive like i used to when gas prices were lower. If i bitch up a storm it won't change it. Gas is going to go up, but I'm going to continue to drive and enjoy myself.

I got like 245 miles on my last tank of gas so you can see I am not trying to conserve, I drive it like I stole it then when the light comes on I go to the pump swipe the card and fill her up without even looking at the price, since like someone said it wont make one damn bit of difference, but I will say gas prices are total bullshit when the oil companies are making record profits off of us for no reason.

Honestly, I think it's kind of ridiculous for any of us to really be complaining about gas prices. Okay, I know that price gouging and rapid inflation is beating the hell out of each and every one of us, but don't we all love cars? Of course we do. It is because of people like us, the consumers, that oil companies are continuing their tirade.

We continue to give into their desires by driving our cars like we love them. So maybe we shouldn't complain too much when we are DIRECTLY part of the problem.

Anyway, I'm going to fill up, hit a great touge (Japanese word for 'mountain pass') and BURN THE WHOLE DAMN THING, because I love driving my Audi more than anything in the world; almost ;)

I hate this conversation... but I can't tear myself away.

It's not the fault of the producers, because they're in business for profit, nothing more. While Porsche rates the highest in consumer satisfaction, people rarely bitch about their cars raking in the industry's highest profit margin (~$25k per car!!!). Why? Because they produce a superior product that is well worth the cost.

So if we're going to continue to demand a product so costly to produce, then it's simply rudimentary economics that the price will increase. Add in some volatile geo-politics and a healthy dash of speculation and you've got a huge run in prices. Therein one finds the solution to said "problem:" put the kibosh on the speculators artificially inflating values and increase pressure on governments and corporations to stop being so wasteful of resources in the first place. The consumer ought to be the final peg in the overall solution.

Unfortunately it's a multi-generational problem that's been set aside for someone else to deal with and now it's us... but it'll be our grandkids who actually eventually fix the mess.

Feed it. Drive it. Smile.

That's how I roll, even if I feel silly dropping $30 in toonies and loonies on the counter before bolting. I figure I save more than enough by gypsy parking to feed my car without feeling the pinch on rising costs of petrol. Which, FYI, here in Alberta (petroleum production country) we pay about $6.75/gallon for 91.
