The manual says to downshift if your below 1500rpm but my apartment parking lot has a few corners where it drops to around 1k if I'm in 2nd. 1st is just a pain to get back into when pulling in. Am i doing anything bad to my car?

I find myself doing the same thing.....There shouldn't be any problems with it. ..What ever feels right is usually whats right

Same here. Garage at work is a pain in the ass with sharp speed bumps and idiot drivers.
Anyway, 2nd gear usually works. What I do is if I'm in 2nd and RPM's drop low I try not to accelerate fast.
