    Aftermarket seats

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So for a while, I've been getting sick of my sport Alcantara seats. The alcantara is all f'd up on the driver's side, discolored, scruffy looking. passenger is not much better. I'm looking at purchasing some lightweight seats to replace them. I've looked at Corbeau, Sparco, Recaro, MOMO, but they're soooo damn expensive. I cannot justify spending 1000+ on seats. What makes them so expensive? lol.
does anyone have any used lightweight seats they'd like to get rid of? I've looked at flebay and craigslist, and there are a few good looking corbeau seats, but just in a bad color (blue/red/yellow) for 600 bucks near me.
Are there any other manufacturers tha you'd recommend? i've also thought about how to mount the seats if i buy some, off say, a Honda. will universal mounts work?

    Re: Aftermarket seats

I've only seen maybe one set up on the forums that looks good with racing seats. I would just reupulster your stock seats and go from there. They will look brand spankin new for very little cost at all. Cant beat that

i was thinkin about that, but for how much alcantara costs, i'd rather get new seats that are lighter and more supportive.

i'll do a little searching thanks overboostin

i am torn on sharing this as you will soon understand...

although these look nice and are very well priced, i have never sit in them, nor do i feel that they will be a solid stiff seat.

you may not know this, but most brands bucket seats flex... a lot... which is not good. also if you track your car, you may need an officially licensed seat, similar to having a legit helmet.

anyhow... sparcos and momo are cheap and generally flex a ton. recaro, FK, Status, are legit, FIA licensed and dont flex as much. but you get what you pay for i guess.

lemme know your thoughts... i think they are worth it for daily driving since they look iight, are def light, and REALLY CHEAP. but since they are not offish, not sure if theyll let you run them on a real track.

^^^Those are the ones that I posted about earlier. Thanks for posting the link. They also have a reclinable seat. They have been used in many s2k's and NSX's. The blk reclinable with carbon back is what I might get for my noggy.

They don't need a warrant to search your car. Cops only need probable cause to search your car. And pot smell = probable cause. Just an FYI...

and when they search your car without any reason than a smell and find nothing sue the cop for harassment when you already gave them a reason for the smell.

well if a cop pulls you and asks to search your car under "probable cause" you do have the right to deny him the search until a warrant is had. my mom works in law

    wat?

If a police officer asks to search your car, you have the right to say "no". However, if he has "probable cause" to search your car (meaning, if he smells pot and suspects you have some in your car) he can search your car without a warrant and without your permission.

i had a phenominal experience with these seats: http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS/755323/10002/-1/10509

i used them in my old 95 mustang, and they were of great quality, and were extremely comfortable to sit in. id recommend them for a cheap seat.

I said it before. If a cop has probable cause they can search your whole car, which includes your truck, glove box, etc. They don't need a warrant and they don't need your permission if they have probable cause. If they do not have probable cause then they can not search unless they have your permission or a warrant (but if they don't have probable cause, then they will likely not be able to get a warrant).

They can look through your windows all they want and anything illegal that they see is in plain sight. Thus it's a legal search if they simply spot it through your window.

If you are arrested they can sometimes search the whole car. It will depend on why you're being arrested and if you give the cops a reason to search the car (you look/act high/drunk or you're acting in a manner that the cops feel is suspicious or threatening). But if you are simply being pulled over for a tail light out and being arrested for an outstanding traffic warrant they wont necessarily be able to search your entire car. They will still need probable cause.
