It cost me $3.50 for paint and couple of hours of my time.
Why? I could not handle that wood trim! This was quick and to me looks way better than wood. Colors are a little off because of bad lighting. All red is matching and is even. Trim around shift boot is not painted yet but that will be black. Red would be too mach and it would take away from the boot.
Feel free to rip it if you don't like it but it's my car and I like it

This is a topic in the B6 A4 forum, where a member was unhappy with his trim configuration and decided to do a wrap instead of painting like you.

I actually like it, but would opt for the cloth wrapping incase later on you have decided to go separate ways with your car. Only being that painting your interior pieces reminds me of the days when I was a Honda boy, and went to shows and all these fanboys painted their interior pieces and its a turn off for me. Especially recently when looking around for a gas saving beater and all these Hondas had painted interiors.

I had the wood on my B6 and it didn't look bad at all.


Last but not least, get that grease off your seats. pedals and steering wheel.

it doesnt look that bad, but i think if you spent the extra to let a pro paint/clear it, it would look better in my opinion

lol certainly everyone is entitled for their opinion.
Now, I bet if I said it was professionally done more people would like it. Or if it was $900 "CF" trim it would be accepted. Why would I pay someone couple of hundred bucks to do the same thing I did. I could've used better paint but I figured this is probably temporary so didn't want to buy anything more expensive. I know how to paint. Everything was sanded down and prepped properly. I don't agree about red trim around the shift boot either. That would look horrid.
Original plan was to use matching red leather but I don't have time to do that right now.
Also, there is no grease on anything. It's a long exposure (30seconds) in poor lighting so it made everything kind of shiny.

I had the birch trim on my first B6 S4 and I loved it. I like the aluminum on my current car, but it's not as nice. I wouldn't change it though because it does go nicely with the silver Alcantara.

Way better than wood trim. I wouldn't do it to my car, but if you like it then that's all that matters. However i think you should have went with a black shift boot and done the surround in matching red.

You must be missing the S4 a little, because the wood did look bad - especially with the hot RS4 wheel.

As for the red, based on these pics it seems easy to tell you painted it rather than it possibly being oem or aftermarket parts. Other than that. like you said it's yours so as long as you're happy with it.

because if it isnt an S4 with CF and BBS wheels, it isnt acceptable here. i think it looks fine, but i wouldn't do it myself (since I have CF :P)

Colors are off because of bad lighting and long exposure and they match almost perfectly in person and when the car is outside. I'll take some pics in better light.
I just came back from a local get-together and I got decent comments from people I don't even know.
