    Re: Carnage Pictures

Unfortunatly I didn't have the time or money to get a better clutch so I just threw a stock one at it again. The slave cylinder let go so I needed one of those too. Flywheel is a little jacked up so a better clutch set up is in my future. All in all since I towed it and did the clutch only about $300 for stock pressure plate, disc, throw out, and new slave cylinder. It was my first time working on my own car that broke that I wasn;t pissed of because the job sucked. It's actually an easy fun job.

What clutch should I get including a Flywheel?

    Re: Carnage Pictures

^^^ what he said... im very happy with mine, it was a daily driver for awhile and i never had a complaint... my 115lb wife even learned to drive it with the FE SS clutch/pressure plate...

and like you said the clutch job isnt crazy hard... although i sure hope i dont have to do another one!

    Re: Carnage Pictures

I was on their site those clutches look pretty agressive. I like it. What is the pedal effort like on the FE SS? Anyone got anything to say about differences between OFE and FE.

    Re: Carnage Pictures

OFE and FE SS use the same pressure plate so pedal feel will be the same. Only difference is the FE will hold a bit more power as it uses a full feramic face on both sides, rather than a hybrid ceramic/feramic like the OFE

    Re: Carnage Pictures

To add, pedal feel is stiffer than stock, obviously as the pressure plate has twice the clamping force. The engagement point is also moved down in the pedal swing, almost on the floor unlike stock where the engagement point is at the top of the pedal swing.

    Re: Carnage Pictures

I'd go with the FE over the OFE.
The OFE lasted less than 2 years for me.

    Re: Carnage Pictures

FWIW Ive got an OFE, have had it for about 35k miles been through 3 turbo's with it: K04, GTRS, and now the 3071R. Just pulled the clutch and pressure plate to get the crank out of my motor and it still looks good as new and has plenty of material left. Just sticking up for the measly OFE, however I would still get the FE if I were to do it again!

It's not like puck style clutch were you have to take off hard though right? You can still take off from a light easy?

No, its still a full face clutch disc and has drivability very close to stock, just a stiffer pedal and much better engagement for spirited type driving

    Re: Carnage Pictures

I think about a G at any dealer because labor time on it is like 9.5ish so that times our labor at a chevy dealer which is cheap at 105.00 an hour.

It is one of those things, that I know I will have to change sooner or later. Right now, I've got my eye out for the timing belt. Which clutch do you recommend?
