Intercooler for the 2.7t that will direct fit in?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi Guys,

In the market of some intercoolers with complete piping and accesories. Is there any FMIC kit out there that requires NO bumper cutting with easy fitments?

I am open to side mount and front mount. I want to cool down my water temp as much as possible, therefore i wouldn't find a smaller core..

    Cheers

I think if u search a bit youll see that a mitsubishi core from an eclipse is direct fit.

If your goal is to keep the water temp. down as much as possible, then you definetly does not want to go with a FMIC. Blocking air flow to the radiator is the major weakness of any FMIC. I would look into larger capacity or more efficent radiator instead.

you may need a few zip ties on the lower side grilles .

OP, on the S4 we have air to air intercoolers so the water temp isnt going to be changed unless like Tifosi said you end up blocking it with the FMIC. you are the first to want to lower water temps not intake airrrrrrrrrr temps!

Isn't the ASP FMIC a direct fit? But you have to cough up like 2k for it.

true but it comes with everything you will ever need, including an EFK, perfect piping, clamps, bolts, a greatly designed core, and the kitchen sink. idk if it's worth it though. i'd like to see some comparison graphs between it and the ebay fmic core w/ piping

IIRC, the ASP FMIC does require modifications to make it fit. It is not a direct drop in unit. Plus, the OP has an RS4, I think the radiator support is also different when compared to the S4s.

Yea, after all, i think i am considering going back to the oem Rs4 smic for the better water temp as the FMIC is really blocking the air flow..

Any idea the ER SMIC will fit my car? Since my car is RHD, will there be any problems?

So are you selling your DUH???
I'm going to pick up mine this evening, a brand new COMPLETE (oil/sterring rad, electric fan etc.) one.

Don't tell me it will be a bad choice...... :(

If your regional weather gets pretty hot and humid, then you may very well experience some abnormally high water tempertures, especially if you are sitting in traffic. Remember, these cars were never designed to have FMIC in the first place, so unless you plan on doing a series of modification, FMIC may not be the most ideal setup for a DD.

Best thing to do is to contact Mike at WMS ( http://wicked-motorsports.net/ ), he has done tons of ERs and was actually involved in the creation of these SMICs. However, since the B5-RS4 never were sold here in the US, let along a RHD car, he may not know either. But if anyone can help you, it would be him.
