    RS6 Honeycomb grill on Allroad?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm new to Audizine so Im not sure if this is the place to ask this but does anyone know if the RS4 or RS6 honeycomb grill would fit on a 2001 allroad? or if there are any quality aftermarket alternative that retains the audi rings?
I dont know if its just me but i think the grill on the allroad just doesnt match the honeycomb lower down on the bumper. any help would be appreciated

    heres some pics for reference

Re: RS6 Honeycomb grill on Allroad?

I am almost 100% sure it will not, however many people buy one of each and do a cut and paste job that can turn quite nicely with the help of a good dremmel and a glue gun. There are a few posts you can find also under the A6 forum regarding this I believe I saw one that could help you about 2 months ago. I am eyeing an AR myself and if it happens will definitely do just that. Welcome to the forum by the way, beautiful AR. Mine will go straight from the dealer to the body shop for a bumper and lowers paint job because it will not do much off roading... Also find someone with a Vag com in your area and you can make it go pretty low on them airbags...

They do not swap out, the AR hood is different from the RS6 or any A6 hood for that matter, I was contemplating this for a long time for mine. You can try what was stated above.

this is all you have to do, buy an RS6 honey comb grill and cut it out, and then chop your factory grill out leaving the chrome outside. Then mod your cut out rs6 grill into your AR chrome surroundings. You can use somekind of industrial grade glue or something to hold it in place. I did that for a buddy, looked great on his A6

Thumbs down to glue, if you are going to do it, do it right and plastic weld it. Also I don't know why you would do that for someone that had an A6, as I was informed that the RS6 grill would work on A6 hoods.

    some a6 hoods.
i think there are like 4 different hoods for the C5, but 2 basic shapes.

type 1a is the initial a6 hood.
type 1b looks like the type 1a hood, but for some reason the hood latches are different and thus the grille needs some modification to work.

type 2a is the facelifted normal a6 hood(narrow body).
type 2b is the facelifted a6 for all v8 models, and is slightly different to type 2a, but with some work they are interchangable.

Thats because a 1999 A6 has a different front end (that includes the gril) than a 2003 RS6..

Here is the DIY RS6 I did this weekend to mine. I'm waiting on the spare grill to show up that I order, then I will actually cut the factory bars out and just run the diamond mesh.

The 2 pieces are on with some black zipties right now. They will be fixed in a more permanent way when I cut the other grill apart.

Re: RS6 Honeycomb grill on Allroad?

you just ziptied the two pieces to the original grill right? and would it be difficult to fill in above and below the rings? other wise it looks great

Re: RS6 Honeycomb grill on Allroad?

Yes as of right now the pieces are just zip tied to the factory grill bars. As for putting mesh below and above the rings, the space is really limited so yes I think it would be difficult to attempt to put anything there and it would just end up being single pieces you wouldn't really see a diamond anyway, therefore, I didn't see it necessary to put anything there as the factory grill really doesn't have anything there either.
