K-Mac adjustable camber bushings installed - need advice

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just got done installing my K-Mac adjustable bushings to fix the camber issue up front on my dumped Avant (24.5" all around) and I'm going to hit a shop tomorrow to get it aligned.

A few things I needed advice on were how the alignment shop is going to adjust the camber with the car not being jacked up. The instructions actually say: LOWERED VEHICLES: For ease of access adjust with wheels on suspension droop. I assume they mean with the fronts hanging down. Will that mean they'll need to jack the car up, adjust, then back down to check the alignment? I'm sure this'll be the first time any shop around here works on an Audi with adjustable front camber so I'd like to set them straight on the procedure so it gets done right.

Any info from other K-Mac owners would be appreciated.

installation was a breeze. It comes with two appropriately sized brass rings so you can press out the old ones and press in the new ones. It helps to have one of those large stand up hydraulic presses (my AF base auto shop had one). Now getting someone to adjust them might be tricky but I figure explaining the procedure should be enough to get some results.

I'm in LR if you ever wanted to drive into town and have a little install party :D

Re: K-Mac adjustable camber bushings installed - need advice

just got back from having it aligned and I'm a little confused on the results.

Of course my rear camber was waaay outta wack and they fixed that no problem. The front toe was really bad and is what ruined my last set of tires (they were old anyway) and they fixed that but the camber is still the same. It's at about -2.30* on both sides and there was no change from before the alignment to after it was done. I questioned the manager about it and he said that was as much as they could adjust it. It appears that they didn't adjust it at all. I kept telling him I could show him how they adjust but he said they already knew and they'd seen it before so I went with it. He did say that I could roll it this way for a bit and come back if it was still not my satisfaction. I know I'll be back because my steering wheel is still a bit crooked but at least it tracks straight as an arrow now. Too bad they aren't open tomorrow.

I'll report back after I check the bushings to see if they even tightened them down. I left them a bit loose so they could tighten them up themselves.

Re: K-Mac adjustable camber bushings installed - need advice

I recently installed these on my car and aligned it afterwards. I do alignments
everyday and this was by far the hardest and longest alignment ever. It took
me almost 2 hours. First, even with the front end raised, its almost impossible
to lock down the bolts after making the adjustment. Second, as your adjust
your camber its also changing the caster. So the real trick is getting the caster equal on both sides after changing the camber. My caster went from
2 degrees to 5. It made low speed turning alittle tougher but staightline
    stability is much better.

I just installed the kit and was wondering if you had any abs or traction control light on after installing before getting an alignment

Wow, this thread's a bit old.. There's absolute no reason installing these bushings should cause any lights on the dash. If you have lights, the installed f'd something up.
