    Go with the 25quattro??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
New to the forum and first post. I'm looking at a 25quattro with (get this) 3,600 miles. It was owned for one year and traded back to the original dealer. The dealer has had it for a year, and has been asking for too much money due to the fact that the dealer laid out too much on the buy-back. Love the car, of course, and could care less about the fact that the B8 will come out in the foreseeable future from a "gotta have the latest and greatest" perspective. My question is in the value of the car at purchase and its ability to retain its value. I'll put some serious miles on it as a daily driver. I don't mind spending a bit of a premium for what will be a collector's item as long as I don't get killed on the re-sale. The fact that the B8 will not be a V8 should assist on that front. I know most of you will say that if I like the car, buy it and don't worry about the money. I'm with you--almost all the way. I'm just curious about your opinions on the "collector's item" part of it, whether it's worth paying a premium for it in the first place (about $4,000 over book--with CPO), and whether the value will hold up better because it is a special edition.

Those are sweet cars, I bet the resale would be slightly better, but if you are going to rack up the miles on it, then it probably wouldn't make sense for you to buy it. Audi's have horrible resale values anyway. That being said, with that low of miles.... Maybe you could buy a beater as well to reduce the mileage on it?

Is this the one in Swickley? If so I have dreamed about owning it myself but like you said the price tag may be a bit high. I say go for it. You will not be disappointed and will own a rare special edition of a car that is already great by itself. Post some pics after the purchase.

    Re: Go with the 25quattro??

I doubt it will become a true collector's item. Not dogging the car at all because I think they are beautiful, but it is too much like the "regular" B7 S4 to be a true collector's item.

Plus, as mentioned above, if your going to be putting the miles on it, that will reduce any potential collector from seeking it in the future.

Bottom line - I personally don't believe it's worth paying a premium for unless you plan on perserving it and taking a chance at it's collector value.

    Re: Go with the 25quattro??

Yeah, it is at Sewickley. They actually have another one with 16,000 miles on it, but the carfax shows that it was involved in a serious accident.

Generally speaking, I put lots of miles on my cars quickly and part with them only grudgingly, sooner than I would like. That's why I buy used with low miles and at a well-depreciated cost. I could see having this for around two and 1/2 years and switching out to something else with the car having approximately 50,000 miles on it. My head tells me that the resale will be lower than I'd like. But when talking about these types of cars, the head loses out to other factors. l get what you're saying about it not being a "true" collector's item, too. Just hard to pass up a "brand new" car with such low miles at a steep discount off of new.

No, the bottom line is you should never pay over book for a car. $4,000 over book is even worse. What are they asking for the car? I got my car for 8k under sticker. You should be able to work out something along those lines. I'm not saying 8k but you get the point. That car is not going to move anytime soon and the dealer is paying flooring costs to keep the car. That's the interest that the dealer is paying to the bank for borrowing the money to buy back that car from the owner. They are backwards on the loan and are going to try and make it up with the sale.

You gotta go in there and let them know that you are going to help them out, not by putting money back into their pocket but by preventing anymore money from leaving their pockets. They will have to suck up the loss, but at least it will stop them from losing anymore money.

If that car doesn't sell, it will end up going to auction and selling for auction price. You should go in there and offer them a few thousand over the aution price and let them know that you know how the system works and are doing them a favor.

Good Luck, and don't pay one penny over book! Don't even pay book!

I absolutely agree there is are reason it's been sitting for a year remind them of that. And DO NOT believe they payed too much that rarely happens it always a story, "we've go a lot in this car because of a prior deal" bullshit! If you have ever traded a car and gotten what seemed to be a good deal they made that money up before you even picked up your car! It may not have been on your deal but someone else got screwed that day!
There is a reason they all have those pretty new dealerships.

    Re: Go with the 25quattro??

I love my 25quattro, but I didn't pay more than kbb, although it took some strong arming with the dealer. Don't let them pull that card on you, it's worth what it's worth, not what they think it's worth just because they paid too much for it.

There are 250 in the US, and I think it will hold a small fraction more of it's value than a regular 2006 S4, but I wouldn't bring that into the equation as a big factor if money is a concern. Get the car if you can get it for a reasonable price and you love the 25quattro.

BTW the only real difference is maybe the Avus Silver, two tone interior, wheels, and slightly different rear (dual exhaust, red tow hook). Otherwise the S4 DTM is identical.

For me, when I first saw the 25quattro I immediately wanted it. I love the color, I love the look, and I love that it's a limited edition. Here's some pics to help you decide:

    im a pic whore btw!

I love the interior of the 25quattro car. If I was looking for one of these I'd pay $2K over a normal S4 of same age, mileage, shape etc.

Audi kinda screwed everyone who got the anniversary edition by putting out the DTM the following year. That really sucks for the true anniversary owners.

There is no way id pay more for a 25quattro than for a regular s4.
Plenty of them are for sale so I don't think you'll have a problem picking one up for a good price.
Personally I think the 25quattro is a great looking car and its exclusivity would steer me away from modifications.

I'm on the fence. If I didn't get a chance to get the 25quattro, I'd be disappointed with the regular S4 if I wasn't going to get an aftermarket bumper/rear and the DTM kit is a nice option for those who want a more sporty look. Maybe they should have not gone with the CF parts to keep the 25quatto exclusive with those. Plastic painted splitter and roof spoiler would have been fine, maybe a slightly different front. The rear is different enough imho to let the 25quattro be unique with that aspect. Painted calipers would have been nice too

That car is nice. I saw it the last time I was at the store having my S4 serviced. Sewickley is a decent dealership. If you want the car stay on them and work them for a deal. Who have you been talking to about it? I bought my Avant and S4 from Ron Kean. He's a good guy.

I've been dealing with Ron. He's cool and they're starting to come my direction price-wise. I think the balance has tipped in favor. Thanks to all for your insight.
