I want to buy a VAG tool.

But it's confusing. Where did all of you get your VAG tool? I've been looking at the Ross Tech website but can't make sense of it. Do you just download the software from them for free and then buy a cable? WTF mate? I just want to scan my car!

I don't have one, but i was confused as hell before too. You just download the software for free, but you need to buy their cable for that to work. If i remember correctly, each cable has a module built in that the software validates/activates with. Your alternative is to get an ebay cable and download and buy some of the older software. That should be the short of it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though
