    Paint the lowers, or no?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I can't decide if I want to paint my lowers/blades or not. I'll be putting on a USP front next month, and since I've never seen an unpainted USP front, I'm wondering if that might look trick.

(Yes, the car is a bit dirty)

    Yea or nay?

Lowered allroad look...hmmm. I never looked at my car that way. I may put on the USP front unpainted (already have it) and see how I like it. I can always paint it later!

Re: Paint the lowers, or no?

    ALWAYS paint your lowers.

Unpainted might be cheaper, might have more contrast, but IMO painted always looks cleaner and better overall. Looks are subjective...but excess gray plastic has no place on an Audi.

Re: Paint the lowers, or no?

IIRC you would need to color match the USP front to the unpainted lowers. Thus painting the USP front to look like it is unpainted. At that point I say you might as well paint all the lowers.

I like the unpainted on black, but yes you will have to match your USP with your current unpainted lowers because they don't match.

paint your mirrors to match your unpainted lowers and wheels!

I like the look on the black. Love that grille too!

I think I'm going to try leaving the USP front as-is (unpainted) for now. I can always paint it later if I get tired of the look.

    Rollin' are we?

I went for a quote to get the lowers painted, $1500.

I say paint them if you get bored of the look or figure later that it'll be more in keeping with your theme.

You do have a theme, don't you?

If I were to buy your car tomorrow (can I? LOL) I'd match the lowers to the gunmetal of your oh-so-sweet Bimotos (<---- very, VERY nice, btw).

My display shows that as a black car... not blue. Do I need to get some fancy colour correction software, or are your eyes playing tricks on you?

I'm saying it too. When i got my USP front (brand new from the dealer) and def. did not match the rest of the lowers. Its lighter. I think because the USP cars always came with painted lowers something is different about the plastic. I didn're really got into trying to figure out why it was different, just didn't care, but the bottom line they do not match.

Re: Paint the lowers, or no?

Yep...you're right. The color of the unpainted USP front is a tad lighter, and a cooler shade of gray. So...if I have to paint them anyway, I'm going to match the body color. That's my theme!

Its a Ming Blue car...if it looks black on your screen then your color is off dude. The Bimotos are flat black BTW, not gunmetal.

Thanks for all the compliments and opinions...its a work in progress. Going into the body shop in a few weeks! Will post pictures of the finished product.
