AWE SMICs for B5-S4, C5-A6 2.7T & 2.7T Allroads

Ironically, I actually posted a WTB thread on just this. If a GB is possible it would be great. Just depends how much the savings are per set. $100 isn't going to be a big savings on a $1300 product. I can probably get that price at Waterfest next month. (and not pay shipping)

I'll sign on for a GB but, I have a feeling that AWE isn't going to let their SMICs go for much less than the normal $1300 price.

You may be right about AWE, but it doesn't hurt to try.

People are asking ~$1,000 for use AWE SMICs, and IMO, even know they are just ICs, used parts are still used parts with their associated risks.

plus i am not sure if those shrouds will fir c5 bumpers....aaaand, imo rs4 are more that enough if you are not planning to go more then stage 3 anyways , good luck tho/

Don't know about the shrouds situation, but AWE have them listed under both A6 2.7T and the AR on their website. Maybe they have different shrouds ?

IMO, the problem with RS4 SMICs is the fitment and I also prefer to have my ICs mounted on brackets as oppose to being supported by hoses.

The AWE intercoolers are easier to fit on the C5 A6 that the B5 S4. Just due to the radiator support shape.

As for the RS4 ICs, they are nothing special at all. Honestly, I can't see how anyone can live with them on a stage 3 car. They probably get you one extra gear of lowered IATs and then they spike right up like the stock ICs do. They are 6% larger than the stock S4/A6/allroad intercoolers...

BTW, the AWE units are 57% larger than the RS4 units.

Price is definitely important but, spending $700 on SMICs that are 6% larger and don't fit very easily isn't cost effective in my opinion.
