I am on a 2003 2.7T with stock 17" rims. I live in upstate NY where it snows like 5-6 months out of the year, so my car is not lowered nor do I have fancy rims. Currently I am running pirelli p6 all-season tires. They have been good to me for the last 2 winters, but now 35K miles later they are balding, and I need to replace them. I am looking to spend no more then $175/tire. SHould I stick with pirelli, or do you guys have advice for something different. The P6 tires go for about $165.

    Thanx in advance

    Re: tires

i have these kumho's on my 2001 A6, and they work really good in snow/rain and they are all season performance tires, and cheap!, like $110 for 17 inch. now my 2004 A6 has goodyear response edge, and they suck, really bad! heres a link to the kumho's http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....odel=ECSTA+ASX

    Re: tires

I didn't like the Kuhmo's in the snow at all. For a true all season people seem to like Pzero nero m&s's and Continential ExtremeContacts. Look thru tirerack's site, alot of info and reviews there.

    Re: tires

I've had Continential ExtremeContacts on my S4 since I've got it, and have run them as winters when I had my 18s as well. I love them. Very good all around tire. I'll be putting a set on the A6 as soon as my P6s wear out.

    Re: tires

I was running a set of these on my S4 before I sold it. I would definitely buy them again. This model of tire has been superceded by the ZE-912 which is a summer only tire, but these are all-seasons. They ride very soft and quiet, but still rigid in the corners. I also believe Discount Tire is a good company to buy from.

    Re: tires

Thanx for the advice guys. I gotta get new tires before winter rolls around. I already feel the car not as sturdy in very heavy rain.

Looks like everyone recomends the Continential ExtremeContacts. Guess I will be getting these :)

Do not run the Falkens in the snow -- I had them on my allroad for 1 winter and it was scary. If you drive on flat roads in light snow, they are ok. If you are near anything remotely hilly, they suck.

And the ZE-912's should not be considered all-seasons. Several people that liked the 512's tried the 912's and the reviews in light snow are terrible. Falken should not be selling them as an all season.

    y

Perhaps, I didn't state myself clearly. "THESE" refers the the all-season ZE-512 tires that are in the link on my post for $95 a piece, shipped, from Discount Tire.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...m190230926072&

I had a set on my stage 3 S4 for a year and thought they were a pretty decent tire all the way around. Stable high speed handling, good at absorbing bumps, good cornering, wet traction, and high weight load. This included many, many trips on snow pack and ice.

I mentioned that they had been superceded by the 912. Most dealers refer to that tire as summer only, but I did notice that FALKEN represents them as an all-season on their website.

I completely agree, the ZE-912, shouldn't even be considered for driving in snow, but the ZE-512 is a great, LOW COST, all-season tire.

Also, I second on the Kumho's (711) being absolutely horrible in the winter. I bought my car with a set. They say they are M/S rated, but they are crap in the snow.

    Re: tires

I like my Goodyear F1 AS but did not drive them enough in the snow to be good judge.
However, my Goodyear Ultragrip 3 Winter tires did awesome in the snow and are more thna decent on dry and rain.
    Have a great day, Brice
