Fuel light remains lit!

So my dilemna is the fuel light wont go out even with a half tank. I upgraded my fuel pump a couple weeks ago so I dont know if that has anything to do with it. The needle reads correctly though which is strange. any ideas?

what about taking the battery cables off, and letting it sit for a bit. Make sure you've got any codes needed for security.

Might want to make sure your level sensor on the pump isn't caught.
