So I am absolutly bored silly at work so I figure this would be a good time to start my car's bio page. This is my first Audi and first dealer ship bought car.
I purchased it as a CPO with 47K on it in 2005.
Here are the original stats:
2002 A4 1.8T quattro 5spd non-sport (4x4)
Goodwood Green
Platinum Interior with Aluminum Fishscale trim
I don't have a pic of it with the stock 16"ers but I do have a pic of it after I put the new wheels on so first with a shot of the wheels I went with:
They are At Italia Nido Super Polished 18"x8.5" wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport AS 235/40/ZR18s
Here is how they looked with stock suspension and 27% tint on all windows except for the front:
Since it was under CPO and I am a merchant marine, basically sailing all the time for the last few years nothing much else happened except for a hardwired Cobra Radar detector and the Audi Ipod adapter in the glovey.
Then one day this past February 08' I had to decide if I was going to trade her in for something better or keep her. At this point I was at around 85K. Well my payments are almost over so I decide I would keep her and see what I could to make her better. This is when I found Audizine; I had already visited sites such as AWE, ECS, Fourtitude, and so on but never any Public Forums for our wonderful cars. The mod bug was planted and the story continues from there.
Being and engineer/diesel/gas turbine/steam I have a pretty good grasp on engines of all sorts. I figured I would start with air flow, since it is key. So I got my first engine mod.
The EVOMS Intake, it may not be proven to be better than the stock but I like it and it sounds cool and you always remember your first and installed by my self.
This is when things start to progress fast.
Then I went with a new DV, a Forge 007 (silver finish) installed by myself
Then I went with the AWE Cat back Exhaust installed by Induktion Motor Sports in MD since I didn't have acces to a lift.
Wow how money just flys out of your pocket with this stuff...
Next came a cure for my 4x4 stance... a nice set of Stassis Street Sport Coil overs will do the trick with a nice pic showing the new stance and AWE Exhaust tips.
I got the Coils from Matt Devo through the Classifieds, thanks again Matt and had AudiA4_20T do the install, thanks Clint.
At this point I was pushing 95K and still no timing belt job performed So I gave my friend Clint a call and we did it in the parking lot at my ship in about 5 hours, glad that all worked out great. Figured this would be a good time to swap the spring in my DV from Green to yellow for the added Boost I was getting soon. I also installed an ECS snub mount since you we removed the hole front bumper and radiator support bracket.
So with the timing belt done I felt it safe to give the Goodwood Green a little more kick and went with the GIAC FX file with Siemens 380cc injectors... money well spent.
Looking to improve upon my exterior a bit I debadged her and clear cornered my headlights, ah much better.
Soon after this in May my car started running like crap coming back from the car wash.. barely holding idle and almost complete loss of brakes. So I pulled over to check it out. Damn suction jet pump cracked in half; all I had was some stickers in my center armrest so I taped her together with a Burton sticker and she ran fine. Used some electrical tape while I waited for the new one.
After my hole loss of vacuum fiasco I figured it was time to get myself a boost gauge to help diagnose any further issues that may arise. I went with Winston of course and the VEI digital Podi, awesome product
Shot of quick couplers I used for adding the extra wire for ground and power, note green whire is not needed for the VEI Gauge. You can adjust the brightness on the gauge itself.
Shot off where I attached my ground wire, top right screw to dash frame. Power, used add a circuit from auto store; used reverse light fuse socket for my switchable 12V source.
Shot off where I installed the T-connector for the vacuum line. I ran the vacuum hose through the wheel well as indicated on the Podi website, very easy.
Then I decided it was time to replace some of those flimsy OEM hoses under the hood. I picked up a APR throttle body hose and Forge TIP in Red.
I just picked up some of Adam's Rotors Slotted and dimpled from the classifieds and some Hawk Performance Ceramic pads to be installed in the near future. Pics to come afterwards.
Not bad for 4 months... stay tuned more is on the horizon...
