Need your opinion on a B6 S4 Avant?

Im looking at trading my car for a Red Avant. All my friends say that red is girly but i like it. Just wondering what you guys think. sorry if the question sounded a little stupid, i apologize.

Go with it if you like it. Theres some red avants that look pretty sick, especially with painted lowers.

Honestly, if you're worried about what people will think of you driving a red car, you'll go crazy driving an avant (assuming you're a dude with no kids).

If other's opinions factor in that much, you might find ownership a hardship. You will catch multiple comments from complete strangers in a B6 Avant. I average around seven unsolicited comments (i.e. I just getting gas or parking at the store) a month about my car.

I get two responses from my car.

1. You drive a station wagon???!!

2. That is the most badass car I've ever seen. What is it?

Usually the #1 guys turn around and admit it's a sweet ride.

A guy that works near my office started ragging on me for driving a "Sta-wag" about two months ago. I challenged him to a race (he's got a 350z convert.) He got on his computer, did a little research and changed his tune.

My friend has a red C5 A6 Avant with black leather and I think it's pretty cool. I've never heard of red being a chick color, look at Ferrari. Get what you want......

I like the red. The silver matte mirrors set off nicely against the red. Really gets people's attention on the road, so if you want a sleeper, that's the wrong colour for you.

But honestly, it's an S4 anyway!!! Can any colour be bad?

I get poked fun of occasionally by friends for driving a "wagon" but everyone admits that its a good looking car and its the only one that can get four guys to the golf course with all the bags/shoes/beer in the back. I went from a B5 S4 sedan to the B6 A4 1.8t avant and have never regretted it. If a red avant would have been available, I would have bought that instead of the black one. I would LOVE to have a B6 S4 avant but they gas mileage is poor and insurance is to high for me.

Why is my age showing??:) Im 17 but have ended up not trading and keeping my A4. I got an insurance quote and gas is way to high for me. Was kind of dreaming S4 for a couple of days but its not a good decision for me to get a V8. Thanks for all the help.

How do you fit 4 bags in your car? I have a B6 S4 and can fit 2 sets of clubs at most.

All four bags are walking bags and thus lightweight and somewhat more compact than normal cart bags (walking ftw!). Remove all drivers/hybrids and the bags can fit sideways across the car (or very close to sideways). Just stack all four bags, wedge in the shoe bags as necessary, and lay the drivers on top. case of beer goes between the two people in the back seat.

Admittedly, the bags are stacked to the top of the headrests, but if its especially full I'll put up the screen to the ceiling to protect from flying clubs in the event of a crash.

I've done this many, many times. They fit. If you have huge leather cart bags then they probably wont fit without some incredible tetris skills.

I can do two cart bags and one walk bag in mine.......i might be able to fit 3 cart bags......but it will be close

Im 25 and insurance on my 2002 A4 is still close to $1k/year. The S4 was a lot more. I do have very good coverage and low deductibles, but its still expensive. Its too risky to cheap out on coverage with all of the uninsured and especially the underinsured drivers out there. Good medical insurance is also important.

You have made the correct decision. Wait a few years and then reassess.

Red is nice, but you can't really go wrong with any avant. If you like or if you are truly in the market for one, buy mine.
