vivid racing in chandler, arizona had a free dyno to show off their facility. i had to take advantage of the free offer. i dont have a scanner, but i will get the graph scanned as soon as i can.

    anyways,

    104 degrees F
    Mustang Dynamometer
    3rd gear pull
    91 Oct.

    Max Power: 162.7 @ 4962 rpm/64.1 mph
    Max Torque: 189.3 @ 3854 rpm/50.0 mph

i didnt get a/f or boost. it was a free dyno so i just let them do their thing.

That's too hot to do a dyno run in but hey, since it was free I would have done it too.

    Re: k04 dyno

those conditions would make a pretty big difference in #'s.

104F is really hot for a dyno day, but free is free. It would be interesting to see what you would pull on that same exact dyno if it was in the 70's outside. I bet you would pick up 20hp/30ftlb's?

    Re: k04 dyno

Since I'm being mentioned in this thread here are my numbers (same mods for both runs):

    Dyno Dynamics (Feb. 2007)

    DynoJet (April 2008)

Note that the DynoJet place didn't have the fans to accomodate my DSMIC setup hence the lower 2nd run numbers. I didn't do a 3rd run. Ambient temps were about 75-80F.

I've had no experience with a Mustang Dyno.

Diztek's numbers appear to be low due to couple of things:

    1. Hellishly hot. Seeing that it was his 2nd run the car was already heatsoaked.

    2. We don't know what a stock B6 1.8T puts down on that dyno on that day.

    Re: k04 dyno

Typical Mustang dynos are calibrated from the factory and usually left that way. They generally read within a few % of Dyno Dynamics dynos. Just as a reference, stock Evo 9's are about 205 whp on a Mustang Dyno, 200-205 whp on a Dyno Dynamics Dyno, and 250 whp on a Dynojet. Dynapacs generally read a tad higher than Dynojets. So, I would say Diztek's dyno is right-on for the conditions that day. I have dyno'd my car on a Dynojet, Dyno Dynamics, and Mustang Dyno. I prefer Dyno Dynamics because of the way it simulates the loading effects from the road. You guys should get into the habit of logging your cars during dyno pulls to see what's going on with that engine.

    Re: k04 dyno

After a little more review, it looks as if your car has a conservative tune, was uber rich, and was getting heat-soaked like a mofo. As stated above by another member, with 70 deg ambient temps, you may have had 20+ whp and wtq more. The correction factor is useless for turbo cars. I'm glad they listed both corrected and uncorrected on that sheet.

wow so basically the power is from 4250 to 5350. so each successive shift should land you are 4250rpm then run that wide power band to 5350 and shift again slightly after.

and people got on me for saying k04 isn't worth upgrading.

at least with bt you get 2k+ of power band

    Re: k04 dyno

Come on guys, it isn't like he lives near a coast seeing that he is in AZ. The high temps, 1100-1300 elevation means the adjusted altitude was pretty high which is why the shop was using a correction. They dyno at Vivid also adds load as the MPH increases and is most likely setup to give a 30% DL like a Dyno Dynamic gives. With the CF and 30% DL he puts down pretty much what he should and without the CF he is making 215hp and 250tq at the crank which is good for the conditions. YOu can NOT compare his dyno to those running on a dyno that is at sea level which is nearly everyone trying to compare their #'s to his.

Even the peak tq shows the effect of the bad air density, causing the turbo to spool up later then it would if it was at sea level.

I wish more people were as logical as you are. The consensus in the B6 forum seems to be all dynos should read the same all the time. I have no idea wtf that's about but it's the wrong mentality. Only people who visit the dyno and different dynos regularly would know I guess. I wanna see someone with a GT2871 or GTrs run their B6 on Vivid's Mustang Dyno with the same horrendous conditions, same gas and put down 300 whp. It ain't gonna happen!!!

    Re: k04 dyno

alot of people live at 1200 DA. why everyone in texas runs so much faster in the lower altitudes. i wish i was at near zero DA. would be alot more fun.

i have to say the gas has been getting crappier i think folks are stepping on it lately.
