Hey guys, I'm getting ready to make my move over to the west coast, parents moving out west from NJ so its actually a good time for me to move out as well so i can still be somewhat closer to them. anyway I'm just looking at places to live, an apartment i just dont know the area that well. so far i've been looking at the greater Los Angeles Area and its surroundings, including north & west hollywood, santa monica. just looking for some good recommendations since i've never been out there.

i just know autobahn exotics is in huntington beach haha so anywhere within an hour of here is great, preferably closer to LA.

    Re: Moving to Socal

LA is a great city but I would look into moving to the suburbs preferably...A. its cheaper B. less traffic (not as congested) C. get away from all that smog. D. better communities (less crime) E. and not as much a-holes.
Pasadena is another great city I would recommend, great community and very lively (esp. Old Town).
p.s. Autobahn Exotics is moving to a better/bigger location out in Chino Hills, which is also another great community which is in the middle of the OC beaches and LA which is about 30 min. away form both (the prices of apartments are extremely afforadable compared to LA but if ur not on a budget and money isnt an issue you have an unlimited amount of options).
Lastly I know its not too close to LA but Rancho Cucamonga (which is about 40-50 min. away from LA) is really growing fast and the prices of living is once again really reasonable.
You should check out the OC, there is alot of great areas out there as well as the weather if ur not to objective to live about an hour from LA.

I also moved here from NJ about 4 years ago and live in the San Gabriel Valley... love it up in this region, especially the Pasadena area, lots of stuff to do without the craziness of other parts of LA.

Hey Shady, you spend a lot of time up in the canyons? GMR? Being so close, you should be enjoying that A5 up there.

My house is actually in the canyons, on the Azusa end of GMR, past East Fork and then down San Gabriel Canyon Rd, just south of the reservoir... I've only taken the A5 once through the whole 30-something mile route - my A5 is an auto tranny, so even in full manual mode, the experience is not as thrilling as it could be - but still, fun to do when you can.

Personally, I actually think the Angeles Crest route is a better run.

I'm pretty sure I know exactly where you're at. Some nice houses up in the canyon - relatively new development. I remember looking at them when they first opened up.

GMR is an amazing run w/ the V8 and 6MT, but I prefer it on weekdays when there's no one around! Weekends can be a little crazy with all the bikes and others.

There was an Angeles Crest run a few months back with some of the guys in the area. They seemed to have a good time. We'll have to plan another sometime so you can come on by.

    Re: Moving to Socal

Ha ha, thread-jack in progress. Yes, there's only 1 development up there so I'm sure I'm in the one you're thinking of... only had about 1 weekend to find a house and we moved there directly from NJ. My A5 is only about a month old, so I haven't had a chance to join in on meets and stuff but looking forward to it in the future!

I'm new to AZ and didn't make it to the last run due to seeing the thread too late. I'd like to meet up with some enthusiastic foothill dwellers.

Not to put a damper on stuff, but there was a fatal accident on GMR this week involving a car going over the side and rolling 500 ft down the reservoir side.

    Re: Moving to Socal

Sorry for the complete thread jack!

Sad story. I've seen one car over the edge before and a rescue in progress...it can get hairy up there sometimes.

Chronic, we'll have to get our Avants together and go make a bunch of people drool.
