Re: GIAC Flashloader Chip Pros and Cons

I have it and think it's great. When I really want to save gas I can switch back to stock programming, I can put it on pump tune anytime I want. I can even change it at a light w/o turning the car off. If I go to the track and get race gas, guess what, I have aprogram for that too that can handle 104+ octane. If I park my car in a shady area I can kill the engine altogether and you will never steal my car, not even if you stole my keys first. If i have to valet my car which I usually don't do I can switch the car so it won;t go over 30mph so the valet can mess with my car and blow it up. After all that I still have 3 custom programs presets left over that I can do whatever I want with. The only down side that I can think of is carrying the dongle eith me if i use the engine kill. Even then I just throw it in my girls purse and call it a day. I love my set up but that's just me.

x2, I love mine....I have all the programs and have used every one except the race gas program. Its good for a person who doesn't want to go over a Gt28r setup through GIAC.

True, a laptop can also change programs. The good thing abut the flashloader is that it fits in your pocket. Switching to stock before going to the dealer is useful...

You can get the Flashloader through the GIAC page in the B6 A4 Section of our website.

    The Flashloader itself costs $150.

You have the GIAC software, but do you have the additional programs? If you do, all you have to do is plug the Flashloader in, press read and you will be ready to go.

I don't think a "chip" is ever totally stealth. There's always something if they look at the right place. However, they'll know for sure if they feel those 21 pounds of boost and the DV screaming when they take the car in the garage. Putting your car back in "stock" mode helps keep it stealthy.

I have the GIAC and love it! Felt a difference as soon as I left the programmer.
