    gas light warning

i just noticed that my car starts warning i'm low on gas when there's 60miles left when it originally did that at 35. Only recent change was rims and tires. Went from stock 225/45/17 to 235/40/18. Would this affect it?

    Re: gas light warning

Mine wont go out at all! I dont know if this has anything to do with me changing my fuel pump. But the guage itself reads fine. But the light stays on even with a full tank.

    Re: gas light warning

    That's what i think:
That's the same thing like when you fill out a full tank, your computer tells you got left 460 miles to drive... When you floor it, that number goes down to 420 or so... If u drive that hard, next time when you get a full tank it will show u only 420 miles to go...
Computer is trying to adjust to your driving, so if it says you got left 60 miles to go, if u floor it, that light will come up saying you need a gas with 45 miles left...

    Re: gas light warning

But after re-reading your question i got also confused :)))
How do u drive??? If u drive very very good/ *good - not even trying to accelerate faster than everyone else/smooth shifting at ~2000rpms... Then maybe you still can go those 60 miles but according to the computer you got almost no GAS in you tank, and after one "heavy foot" you will see your computer saying 35 miles left.

    Re: gas light warning

Light comes on when you have 1/8" of a tank left (guage is showing 1/8 full at red mark). The miles you have left shown depends on how you drive. It could be 50 miles, or it could be less if you were hard on the gas lately.
