    Alternator Squeeking after replacement

I replaced my alternator over the weekend.

Everything was fine for the first day. Today it started making a loud squeeking noise as if the belt was loose on it. I thought i put everything on tight after I replaced the alternator. But apparently not tight enough.

I tried spraying on some belt dressing, it temporarily stops when I am spraying the belt at the alternator pulley, but then starts again as soon as I stop. So I'm guessing the belt is loose.

My question is, can I tighten this without having to take apart my car (removing headlights, bumper, fan, fan clutch) Or am I screwed. I'm just trying to figure out how to save myself a few hours labor time. i was hoping the top bolt of the alternator was one that could be adjusted, but it doesn't look like it.

    Thanks in advance!

You cannot adjust tension... Did you get a new or use alternator? Is it a constant squeek or is it when low engine speeds and power steering are in effect? Mine squeeks but when I am under 1200 rpm and turning the wheel... Also, I put an alternator on with a fixed pulley when I should really have the freewheel pulley...

It is a new alternator. I got it at autozone. It was a duralast replacement for the valeo. It didnt come with a pulley, so I took the pulley off of my old one, and put it on the new one.
