    Unhappy SD Memory Card Issue

So I bought a few 2GB Kingston SD Memory Cards.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134029

I put them in the car and for some strange reason it reads "192 MB" on the card after they are put in and not all the songs show up in the list.

The manual says that the amount of space on the card will show up on the memory card icon, but it doesn't match of course.

So I tried reformatting the cards to FAT32 as they came formatted from the factory as FAT and that didn't fix anything either.

Any of you have problems like this? Should I try reformatting them as FAT and see if that corrects anything or could it be that the unit simply doesn't like these memory cards?

Ignore the 192MB. Any SD card larger than that will "say" 192.

    Re: SD Memory Card Issue

there is a maximum number of songs the RNS-E can read. It's around 400 I think. That's 400 items all together. So, if you have folders and playlists, you are cutting down the number of songs you can hold.

I have 2GB cards and 4 GB cards. They work fine. Just be sure to count up the items. The 2GB cards will not have enough space for 400 items. The 4GB, you will never fill up. If they made a 3GB card, it would be perfect.

Also, the larger the SD card, the longer it takes the unit to load the card.

That 192 says that for my 2GB cards. Because the 2 GB cards have like 1.92 GB of space on there. My 4GB cards says 395 or whatever to mean 3.95 GB total space.

    I have a 2008 S4 with Navi.

    Hope that helps.

If any of your files have names longer than 64 characters, they won't be recognized. I know, it's stupid. I downloaded a program called path analyzer, which scans your files and tells you which ones are not compatible. Search for it here: http://www.navplus.us/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=10

Cool, thanks for all the info guys and I'll respond to your info individually later. I'm cramped for time right now and have a huge paper due tomorrow which is the last session of one of my grad classes for this quarter. UGH!

also, make sure its MP3 format, alot of the songs i have are in the "MPEG4" format. All of the songs that I put on my itunes from CD's are put into the "MPEG4" format. If you import alot of CD's onto itunes maybe they are in the MPEG4 and it simply doesnt show up on the RNS (yeah, only the songs i download off limewire work on my RNS)

Yup, all my files are MP3 format. I don't use iCrap to rip my music. I prefer using CDex, and it's free!
