    Is something A-Foot?

    Gt71R Eliminator

    I'm boosting 5 psi at 3000rpm
    :: 10 psi at 4000 rpm
    :: 15 psi at 5000 rpm
    :: 20 psi at 5800 rpm

    What numbers are you guys getting?

    5 spd Manual 2003 A4 1.8t

    Thanks guys

    Z out

    UPDATE::::

    No dentist Drill Sound. That was the first sign I checked for.

    I checked out the other pertinent components,
    1. Lo and behold, I found a huge crack at the top of the manifold.
    2. one bolt completely backed out. It didn't stretch, but it backed out. I could move it around very easily.
    3. I'm not certain, but I'm wiling to bet that the bottom of that manifold is going to be cracked too.

    Oh joy, looks like i'm in for a treat.
    I'm going to have to swap out the manifold.
    Give ATP a call
    and while I'm at it, check the damn flapper on the Wastegate

    Now I'm boosting a tiny it better because I re-tightened that bolt:
    20 psi at 4800-5000 or so
    instead of 5800 rpm

    Your turbo is dying a slow death and you mean 20 PSI at 5800 RPMs, correct?

    Also, you should be making 20 PSI by atleast 4200 RPM. Let us know when you figure things out. I'm sure my 71r elim. will give up soon soon, just like every other eliminator turbo sold.

    Re: Is something A-Foot?

    im guessing that last part was 5800rpm not 2800 for 20psi right?

    and yes something is wrong. Are you on N75 or mbc/ebc? With a mbc/ebc you should see 20psi at like 3800-4000 and on the N75 you are looking at 4000-4200.

    Nothing to do with the method of controlling boost. His turbo is dying OR there's quite an exhaust/compression leak going on.

    Sweet David, at least you got your car working again man.
    But you have a GTRS, so you'll spool a few hundred Revs faster than mine.
    Well seeing as how things are progressing, probably spooling a few K faster than mine. LOL

    Pretty much. If you decide to upgrade to a GTRS turbo on your A4, you will most likely push it harder because of power rush you never got from the stock K03 unit. So, the harder you push it, the shorter the life. I personally believe that the true life expectancy on at GTRS turbo is about 35K - 40K miles, pushing no more than 1 BAR. I would imagine that you get the same results by pushing it hard every other week and staying out of boost for the other weeks.

    EDIT: This is just a guesstimate.

    Re: Is something A-Foot?

    My first one lasted about 16-17k then I got a new center section which then somehow lasted 3 months which then made me extemely pissed so after fighting with ATP for about 2 weeks I ended up getting a 3rd center section for half price. This one has about 8,000 miles on it so far.

    You would only need the center section aka CHRA and you use your existing housings. It was $844 for the 1st one I bought directly from ATP.

    I'm sure I've said this before. If you can source a SK04 (Super K04) that would be your best bet. I know Kinetic used to have these available. I wonder why not anymore.

    Re: Is something A-Foot?

    I'll have to do more research on this. The SK04 that kinetics had was a K04-15 that was machined to fit a K04-23 comp wheel, I think. All I know is that the K04-23 I saw looked nothing like what comes on a TT 225.

    LOL, because the crap turbo fell apart all the time, it was a waste just like the E05. My friend Juan did a modified K04 way before Kinetic and the thing just blew nothing but hot air, so hot that it was heat soaking a EVOms FMIC just in 1 gear pull. The reason it blew hot air was because it was trying to push way too much air out of such a small housing.

    I noticed not one person here asked the OP if the turbo is making the dentist drill sound. If it isn't making any noise then my guess would be something other then a turbo on its way out. Could be a leaking BPV, dying maf, exhaust leak, clogged cat or a WG that has come loose and is open more then it should be.

    Ok, so the Kinetics SK04 was crap. Gotcha!

    I'm assuming that the OP would have stated other symptoms if he was having trouble with his turbo but I'm assuming he would have. You bring up good points and things to check. if it's not a dying turbo, a faulty DV is the only other thing I think it could be.

    Leaking BPV: could be, I have an HKS SSQV set to recirc
    Dying MAF: Brand new Maf, less than 5000 miles on it
    Clogged Cat: No cats here, Just dogs. I'm running a Test pipe
    Wastegate: Yeah thought about that, when I pull off my Manifold, I will check out the flapper
    Exhaust leak: Definitely, the ATP manifold is cracked in at least 1 place, and probably even more.

    Most on here say to set the WG to 10 PSI, any reason not to set it any higher?
