I just used AWE as an example, I definately will shop for a better price. My question is if anyone has experience with this setup, ad if they have any suggestions.

I had pss9 on my passat and then on the b6 s4 and now on my s6. i think they are the best thing for your money. If they are setup the right way they will outperform most coilovers out there. they do not go very low on some cars. the sprig rate is moderate so you can drive it everyday withoud discomfort. actually on the softest seting they are softer that the stock s suspension. Pss9 come with lifetime waranty. I did try other companies. H&R, KW, Koni and would get pss9 anytime.

I have the 9's on my car also, what setting do you have yours on? Just wondering what other PS9 drivers are using. Thanks.

Re: Bilstein PSS-9 Coilovers, I'm ready to pull the trigger.........

It all depends on what you need.

If you just want a lowered car and better performance, there are many shock/spring combos available for < $1000. You can even get ride hight adjustability (grooved shocks, AWE Tuning, ECS tuning), and adjustable dampening (Koni sport adjustable shocks).

If you want to trust someone else's choice of what the optimal spring rate and dampening (street performance), and you just want the ability to micro adjust your ride height, then H&R or Vogland are the best choices for coilovers at around $1250.

If you want more adjustability there are several more expensive options. For under $2000, there is the Bilstein PSS9's and the 2Bennett Racing coilovers. The difference is:
    1) Bilstein offers progressive rate springs wth turn of a knob dampening adjustments.
    2) 2Bennett offers your option of constant rate springs and (must remove from the car) dampening adjustments.

If you want the best, Penske and Ohlins (Stasis), offer a choice of constant rate springs AND turn of the knob dampening adjustments.

All of these choices are of very good quality, it just really depends on your budget and your preference of adjustability.

If you plan to track your car, you will definitely want to have the Bilsteins, 2Bennett or higher if you can afford it. If just for street, I really recommend H&R. Those guys do an incredible job of giving upgraded performance with utmost attention to a smooth and comfortable ride.

Re: Bilstein PSS-9 Coilovers, I'm ready to pull the trigger.........

I was just looking at the PSS9 setup for my car. It sure seems that AWE is the best priced.

They want $1600, Tire Rack is a tad higher and ECS is like $1900!!

My question is, can I get the Ride Control system for the A6. There is no listing for it in the Bilstein Application Guide.

    http://www.bilstein.com/304passengercars.pdf

I think I'd rather have the control system than take the wheels off and fiddle with it all the time.

They are really good but unless you track or often do aggressive mountain rides and such... you probably be just as happy with shocks and springs and save $hundreds for more mod or install. They are ncie but most don't need coil overs... Just my 2 cents.
If you really want c/o then I would definitely go PSS9 for adjustment on height and dampening

Re: Bilstein PSS-9 Coilovers, I'm ready to pull the trigger.........

well I see your in NYC. I sell PSS9 & wouldnt recommend them for a daily. They are a very harsh ride on the horrible roads as most Bilsteins are due to the monotube design characteristics.
Dont get me wrong. Its a very hi quality component and more track worthy than most, just not the most comfortable on rough pavement.

I have Bilstein Sports and H&R sports in my Avant & its a bit jarring. I had PSS9 on my Corrado & switched to KONI & luv it.

I switched from Bilstein to KONI on my MK2 as well.. I'd suggest you drive a similar model car with pss9 in NYC to get a taste of the reality before you commit to $1400+

Running Bilstein PSS9s and H-Sport sway bars on my allroad. In five minutes, you can adjust from soft to full stiff setting. Participated in two DEs(VIR and Road Atlanta) last year running the PSS9s. They are awesome.
