Einszett Plastic and Vinyl cleaner - Good for getting off clay/mud on the dash/doors?

You are probably asking yourself, "why would there be mud on the dash?"

Well, I have two big dogs, and one got out of the back of the car. Another one jumped in and did a nice long shake inside the back of the avant... so I have mud with a lot of clay content all over my interior... ah the joys of dog ownership

I've tried to use soap and water on a rag, Aerospace 303 cleaner... nothing seems to get the mud out of the wrinkles in the dash and other panels. How does the Einszett Plastic and Vinyl cleaner perform? Seems like a good product based on the threads i've read in the archives, but I just wanted to post to ask. I also need to clean the headliner (ugh!) and am not sure how to proceed with that... probably will just try water/rag for now as it looks delicate. Any suggestions for cleaning that? I haven't done research on that topic just yet.

Also, does the Einszett Cockpit provide UV protection? I was thinking of picking this up as well b/c it leaves a satin finish.

    Thanks!
    Jon

    I'll get a leather/vinyl scrub brush.

I have tan interior..and dirt gets in the wrinkles and they show easily. Cockpit premium is perfect but if you need a stronger cleaner then plastik reiger is awesome.

I bought the Einszett cleaner and the Cockpit protectant. Arrived this morning, we shall see how they work!

Jon, the answer is a definite YES! This is exactly what Plastic is for. You'll probably also find you end up cleaning a lot of grime too.

Cockpit is different than 1Z Vinyl-Rubber Care and Protectant which does have UV protection since it's an exterior cleaner and protectant.

Cockpit protects agains fading due to heat. Most UV is filtered through automotive glass before it enters the interior. If you have a convertible or applying it on say an outdoor vehicle (boat, jet ski, motorcycle, etc), then I would suggest several initial treatments of Vinyl-Rubber Care first and then maintainance applications every month or two to maintain protection. Inbetween VRC applications you can use Cockpit for a more subdued appearance.

BTW, here's a tip: VRC is awesome at restoring all outdoor plastic and vinyl based furniture.

Good to know, thanks Mike! I'll be using both the cleaner and cockpit this weekend when the car gets a nice interior detail, maybe I'll even snap some before and after pics. I've used Aerospace 303 Protectant in the past on the outside trim and it has worked well. The 303 cleaner is great in high concentration but Im not comfortable using high concentration on the dash etc... dont know what'll happen! Its good for the undercarriage though, and brake calipers when I had stoptechs... they stained like crazy.

My interior has been soooo filthy for many months. Never had time to clean it properly, so I can't wait to get it tidied up tomorrow.

Re: Einszett Plastic and Vinyl cleaner - Good for getting off clay/mud on the dash/do

Well I tried to get some good before and after shots but it was really sunny outside and it played havoc on the camera... so they turned out very, very grainy.

Im very happy to report that my car interior is in immaculate shape (well, as close as it can be to immaculate for a daily driver with 85,000 miles) after using the 1Z plastic cleaner and following up with the 1Z Cockpit. The cleaner did a great job of getting of the clay/mud that was all over the back and dash, as well as getting door scuffs/marks off the front doors.

The warning on the cleaner bottle are pretty strong, so I was very careful and actually wiped down the trim with a clean, water soaked rag after using the cleaner (I have no idea if this was needed, but it made me feel better). Some of the heavier dirt needed some elbow grease, but it did get rid of all of the mud and other dirt that had built up over the winter. The Cockpit went on easy and left it looking very nice with a satin finish and not greasy AT ALL . Nothing can stop the peeling, etc that plagues this model but it did a good job of making it harder to notice.

All and all, a great purchase. I didn't make much of dent in the bottles so I expect I'll be using this for quite a while.

Up next is the exterior detail...

Though I dont have good shots of the after, this is some detail of the before. Pretty dirty... This mud is sooooo sticky, the clay made soap and water completely ineffective as the mud would always remain in the wrinkles.

The panels look brand spankin new now.

    Jon,

    Thanks for posting your review!

You bring up a good point about the warning. If you didn't do a wipedown with a wet rag, it wouldn't have affected the surface but we recommend it to prevent residue build up which can attract dirt. The warning is primarily there do highlight the fact that you should never apply the product in direct sunlight or on a hot surface. Plastic Deep Cleaner is a safe, concentrated detergent but heat can transform it into a much stronger product - enough so to discolor the surface. This is the case for all chemical based products.

And yet there is always someone who will applyit on a hot dash, in direct sunlight and then go take a phone call. Bad combo!

    Thank you!
