    NEED HELP finding leak...pics included!

    Ok so here is my leak...I thought it was an oil leak at first, but the leak is right between the catalyic converters?

    Looks like the drive axle output flange seal is leaking...

    ya the drive shaft output seal is leaking. VERY common. i stock that in my box cause every audi i work on usually needs it. great job for a flat rate tech. 2.5 hours in 20 minutes

    so how do I fix it? Do I need a new seal/gasket? Do I have to replace anything? Thanks for the info.

    its a seal . trans output shaft seal
    018 409 399 b thats your audi part number

    thanks guys...ive also been searching for a diy and cant find anything. Does anyone know any links that might help me out with this?

    all you need to do is remove that heat shield, unbolt the drive shaft from the output (6mm allen x6), clean up all the grease etc. and then apply new gasket....come to think of it I may have a spare gasket lying around...
