    slapped these in today.

To answer the question, NO issues with canadian DRLs.

I measured the voltage of the DRL mode output at 11VDC vs full beam 12-13VDC

no problems whatsoever. and no issues with switching on and having one or the other ballast fail to fire like the cheaper kits do.

the price included shipping as well, no surprise fees over the border.

Finding a spot for the ballasts was the hardest thing.

    Re: retro solutions HID kit.

well. the DRLS are in fact causing problems with ballast start. So i disabled the stupid things and jumpered relay 209.

I didnt like the idea of these things on all the time during the day anyhow. The amber corners are sufficient.

They bench tested fine in the garage i swear. Soon as i rolled into the parking lot, they started acting up on the DRLs.

Annoying, but a dead simple fix as it turns out.

    Re: retro solutions HID kit.

Yeah the DRL issues with HID's are extremely intermittent. Sometimes they ignite fine, other times they flicker. In any case, anything short of 12v will burn out the ballast sooner than later.

    Re: retro solutions HID kit.

The kit does have a lifetime warranty though right? But having insufficient voltage to ignite the ballast might not fall under the terms of the warranty.

    Re: retro solutions HID kit.

It's a lifetime warranty on all parts for any reason AFAIK.

    Re: retro solutions HID kit.

And the specs are 9vdc minimum input anyhow. I measured the DRL mode output at 11volts.

Im really not sure why there is an issue, aside from the rapid on/off relay action when you first start up the car.

But running HID's during the day is just silly.

    Re: retro solutions HID kit.

    Yup, sure does.

    BastardS4,
I know the specs say 9dcv minimum, but I have found in actuality, that the ballasts need a true 12volts to work reliably.
