    Transmission Trouble

So on the way home Monday and I did this retarded start in first gear (felt like i just learned how to drive a stick shift) but now it feels like the syncros are worn or gone, or the linkage is off.

it is very difficult to get in to second and third gear when revving above 2000RPM, doesn't seem to have any trouble down shifting (but i usually pop the
throttle old habit) if I keep the RPM's down it drives almost normal, just a little more force when shifting

does any one know of this happening to any one else, the car only has 35,000 on it and i don't drive it too hard, but it would be nice to get one the freeway like i used to

    Re: Transmission Trouble

I have the same problem. My clutch was sliping as I tried to launch it and was also doing this. So I replaced my clutch. I still have the hard 2nd and 3rd gear problem. Gonna change my tranny fluid this weekend i'll let you know if this helps.

    Re: Transmission Trouble

Ya i thought it was my clutch at first too, i put the car up in the air and checked my trans fluid, seemed fine, no metal bits at all. half the time I think its grabbing funny but it might be in my head

i found a thread of B7'ers with the same problem (can't find it again or id link it).
some took it to the dealer and they said it didnt present any problems ????
others of em installed the APR snub mount and said it helped.

I still think something in the linkage or syncros is boogered up, if i wind first gear out over 4500 it wont go in to second unless i double clutch the crap out if it and hang off the shifter

    Re: Transmission Trouble

I have an ECS stub mount. Tomorrow in class i'll look up how to adjust the linkage. Same thing here over 4500 won't go in. I miss second all the time it sucks I can't get a good run in. I hope its not the syncros. My talon I have broke syncros a few times and it wasn't quite the same. It was hard shifting all the time. Pm me your email and i'll scan the linkage how to for you.

    Re: Transmission Trouble

So i took it in to the dealer ship today, had one of the techs go on a ride and drive it, and he agree that the syncros for 2nd and 3rd are bad, and that he would check the others and the clutch when i take it in on monday, luckily im still under warranty, but they have to pull the transmission so it cant be cheep

    Re: Transmission Trouble

Don't know if anyone cares anymore, but

turns out it was a cracked clutch disk and this was causing the clutch to not fully disengage, (the shifting problem) the dealer said there were hot spots on the clutch plate which were signs of abuse and was not covered by warranty

so $1000 in parts and $1000 in labor and 2 days later the car drives great

    Re: Transmission Trouble

    Wow the dealership are theives......

Hot spots, are caused from slipping clutch (from poor driving to starting off on a steep hill). A crack sounds like it could have been faulty....

    At least its fixed.
