ok so I have read over so many different ways of hardwiring the V1.
Anyways I have the v1 hardwire kit. Has anyone done it on a S4 in a manor that they didnt have to take the whole car apart. Someone please help. I just spend 20 bucks on this kit and I can not figure out a good way to wire it.

    STFA

down the Apilar - slide it in with a credit card.

tap the fuse box to something switched - Gas pump - 28 or 29....

Maybe this was because mine is a s4 and theirs was an a4.

This is how mine is wired. It's wired into a 5amp fuse on the right side of the fuse box.

like the others said, run it along the roof between the glass and the headliner, down the drivers A pillar using a credit card, back along the seam where the pillar meets the dash, then to the fuse box. use a fuse tap to a switched fuse.

if your radar detector works while the car is off, you arent using the right fuse. this happened to me, i got done plugged my radar in, it came on and realized my car was off "crap". i think i ended up tapping the fuse for the rear wiper or something non vital like that

should take you about and hour. that includes driving to radio shack for fuse taps.

oh and i use an escort so ymmv. pretty much the same concept though

Hardwire just as everyone has mentioned, down the A-Pillar then use an OEM Dash Switch for a remote mute connected to your V1 hardwire kit.
Also to make it even cleaner, route the cable in through the RVmirror trim plate.
That's how my V1 is hardwired and it is clean as hell !!!
I only have about 2" of telephone wire coming out of that trim.

All these replies are spot on!

I used the fuel pump fuse. Done in 30 min and the only thing you have to take off is the fuse box cover.

Installed the concealed display in the ashtray... looks sweet!!

Eddie: I love the idea of using a stock switch on the dash... that is smooth! What switch did you use?
