ok so the first reason i'm pissed is that my car broke down on the Atlantic City Expressway at like 2:30am on friday morining. I was just crusing along w/cruise control at about 70-75mph when the car started spuittering and running real rough, then i realized I had zero acceleration, and the CEL blinked on for a few seconds. I started pulling over and the car died. i started it again and it was just sputtering, and still no acceleration whatsoever. being a veteran of failed coilpacks, although this seemed a lot different, i decided not to even f around and called Audi Roadside(it's free) to just tow me to the dealer(still under warranty.) they wouldn't tow me from the ac expressway since it's a private owned highway, so I had to wait for the towing co. that the highway uses to come get me. after an hour and a half the tow truck arrives, and a 70 year old(literallly) guy puts the car on the flatbed. he then tells me that he can only tow me off the highway, unload the car, and then I would still need audi to tow me to the dealer. anyway, the driver, my passenger and I get into the cab of the truck and we only drive about a quarter mile when BAAMMMMM!!!!!! We get slammed from behind by a dude in an Olds Bravada. he had to be doing at least 80mph. it was so sudden. my first thought is that my car was going to be fucked, then after getting out and seeing the bravada, that the other driver was dead. but he got out somehow and was running all over the highway. when he finally came over near us and settled down some, he didn't have a scratch on him somehow!! his suv literally was destroyed. you wouldn't be able to tell what kind of car it was. it was pancaked under the back of the flatbed, metal debris everywhere. it was disturbing to see a car so wrecked. but to my suprise, my car appeared to be pretty much unharmed. the rear passenger wheel was up against the side rail of the flatbed, but that was it, maybe just a little wheel scratch. but the flatbed controls were wrecked, so no one was sure about what to do with my car. finally they decided to limp the flatbed back to their shop, where we had to go and wait for another 2 hours. they got my car off, and audi roadside finally arrived to to w the car to the dealer. feeling bad about all the inconvienence, the first tow company gave me and my passenger a ride all the way home(about 40minutes.) when it was all said and done, we got home at like 9am, and I was without my Avant for the weekend. the dealer called today and left me a message, saying that the car apppeared fine from the accident, but it was throwing some fault codes (didn;'t say what) and to call back to discuss. I didn;t get a hold of them yet.
so to wrap it up, crazy tow truck accident aside, this is the 3rd time my 2005 Avant has broken down since I got it in December. i got it with 35k on it, and according to service records was carefully maintained. I love the car, but this has me really mad/dissapointed. I've had 2 B5 A4s before this, and barely an issue. my last one hit 170k and never sniffed a breakdown....so i guess now i'm just waiting to see what's wrong and if it's covered under warranty(which it better be.) thanks for reading.........oh and I took a bunch of cell phone pics of the accident, they're crappy but I'll try to post them.
