I will go to napa today and see what I can find to temporarily half ass charge the system so I can drive it down to the dealership to get evacuated and charged. I am wondering how much oil and freon was in the new compressor when I received it since the holes were plugged and fluid was in them when I unplugged them before install. Might call up the place I bought it from and ask...
So what are your thoughts on the compressor AND dryer? I mean should I go take the compressor out again and plug it until I get the dryer in or what? Or is the compressor okay to have installed as is until I get the dryer unit installed? Dryer unit is $65 on discountacparts.com and $160 at the stealership lol...
Yeah, usually, the A/C compressor is unbolted and set aside without disconnecting the refrigerant circulation piping, keeping the system sealed.
The new receiver/drier should be installed just before the system is evactuated for the permanent recharge. The new compressor will not be affected by exposure to ambient air /moisture. It's OK to leave the new compressor installled, but you for sure need to have as much refrigerant as possible and and several fluid oz of compressor oil in the system, before driving anywhere, even as a temporary measure to get to the dealer for the final work.
