    Question 17" Forged Wheels

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone have a listing of 17" forged wheels that fit an A4? I have a set of SSR's 18" on my GTi which are forged which are 17.4 Lbs. I can't explain how much this has made a difference on my GTi - and thinking dealing with the Audi and all of the "Extra" weight from the driveline, how much it would improve performance + gas millage.

As a reminder to what can be achived I saw a recent article in this month European Car, and it showed a dyno with a BMW 3 series that had a dyno run with a new set of forged wheels. The increase in HP was very obvious...

So what ya got? I don't care if it is OEM or not, but I don't think there are many oem forged wheels out there.

    Thanks
    Joe

Yea not going to find a listing. Plenty made by Volk, Gram Light, SSR, ... that would fit your priorities

17" wheels don't even have to be forged to be in the 15~17lbs range. Kosei's K1-TS is cast/shot peened and it's 15lbs, or even bellow 15 if it's only 7" wide.

i read the same article in european car. the increase in power from one wheel to the other was crazy. i would have thought like 2-5hp. i had no idea wheels and tire could make that much of a difference.

Ummmm... I don't know where you heard that but it is not true. They are totally forged but not using the same process that other forged wheels do.

Now if you are talking about multipiece wheels, most are not totally forged (SSR or other makes).

So if I am looking for a set, any good pics? I only seem to find 18" and larger images on A4's - prefer avants if anyone has them.

    thanks,

B5 S4 crowd would likely be a good source, as many tend to track more often. You'd obviously have to check the wheels specs, but most wheels that fit on B5 S4 will work on a B6.

Their method is called SSF, Semi-Solid Forging. Like I said, they're not fully forged, it's like a combination of casting and forging.

    Re: 17" Forged Wheels

B6 is heavy. I would no istall sub 17lbs wheels. Even my friend who worked for MTM and worked on this car http://www.germancarblog.com/2007/01...n-to-race.html

and he even told me that light OZ wheels are not good choice for B6/8E platform.
My Team Dynamics ProRace 1.2 wheels should arrive in two weeks. I will post my finding regarding lighter 17s.
