Hey Guys-
First time poster on this forum but long time member of various BMW forums. I sold my 04 530iA Sport and bought my 2004 S4 manual about 1 year ago and have never looked back.
My question is in regards to some information my local Audi dealer recently provided me about oil consumption in the V8 engine. About 5000 miles after I bought the car I had an oil level warning light come on and needed to add about 2 qts of oil to the engine. My car is both CPO and extended service, so I took it into my local dealer to ask if the consumption is normal. My previous experience with oil consumption is that it's usually related to a faulty seal or hose which permits oil into the engine or leak out of the system.
To make a long story short, the dealer told me to expect 1qt of oil consumption every 1000 miles and that the car was fine. I was honestly shocked by this statement. That would equate to the consumption of more oil then the car can hold in-between scheduled 10k mile service appointments.
I was just gonna stick w/ the already-paid-for oil changes, but knowing now that the oil will need to be constantly "topped off" I am thinking of changing at 5000 intervals.
Does anybody else notice their S4 consuming oil?
Thanks,
Z
