    Advice on upgrading wheels...please

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi,

So I have a 2003 3.0 quattro A4 6spd. I currently have the 17" five spoke sport rims on there. I want some black 18s or 19s. I called my Audi dealership to ask what I needed the offset of the wheels to be if I got 18s or 19s, but the guy in the parts dept. told me the same offset as my 17s. I wasn't sure if this was correct or not.

So, I know I need a bolt pattern of 5 x 112. What are the other things I need if I get 18s or 19s? Whats the correct offset for 18s or 19s? And any advice on if I should get 18s or 19s? Thanks in advance...

there is a set of BBS CH 19" in the classfieds right now. that guy is in CA, not taht far from you.
trust me, those BBS CH looks classy. you might need to lower your car
you can run offset like et35 or et32 which sticks out a little more than 35

that's up to you! either 35 or 32 if you don't want 100% aggressiveness.

    Re: Advice on upgrading wheels...please

The offset for the OEM 17x7.5 wheels is ET45.

ET35 with a 8.5" wide wheel will be flush with 235 rubber.
ET35 on a 8" wide wheel will not be as flush.

    Re: Advice on upgrading wheels...please

It should be 35 for all normal width wheels, 7-9" IIRC, then things start getting larger to accomidate wider wheels for staggered fitments and what not, someone please correct me if I'm wrong...35 will put you close to flush on say a 8.5" like mine near the middle to bottom of the wheel well.. the offset is the same for different diameter (17, 18, 19) wheels made for B6 fitment..I hope that helps

    Re: Advice on upgrading wheels...please

from what i gather, the stock 17 x 7.5 have an offset of 45 and if i want 18 x 8.5 the proper offset would be 35. The guy at the audi dealership told me that the offset will be the same for my car no matter what size rim i get. but that doesnt sound right. any clarification?

Any advice on driveability/performance of 18s vs 19s?

    Re: Advice on upgrading wheels...please

I really like my 18x8.5s and they handle awesome.. a little bit more sidewall for practicallity if you drive on poor roads... never rode on 19s if you are looking for black wheels though you can check out Raderwerks.com, they have a bunch of Audi reps and other mesh style wheels that either come black or can be powder coated...happy hunting

pondside, the offset on your 18 x 8.5s is 35? what kind of wheels are they? Do you have any pics? and lastly did you have stock wheels on before you put on your 18s? if so, was there any considerable difference?

    thanks.

It also depends on how much you have to spend and the type of wheel that you are looking. We carry several different style wheels in both 18 & 19 inch fitment for your car. Here are the links to the wheels I have for sale right now.

So if I go with an 8.5" wheel, ET38, with 235 rubber will I have any rubbing issues?

They are AT Italia Nidos 18x8.5 ET35, decent wheels and fairly inexpensive, I had the stock 16s on before... and there was a considerable increase in traction, no tire roll, just an overall better grip on the road with Michelin Pilot Sport AS 234/40/ZR18.. tires are key, don't skimp on the rubber, that is why I choose the wheel I did so I could get the best all season tire I could...

Ummm... I bought 5 for around $3000 if IIRC... each wheel was about $380 and each tire was around $250 from tirerack 2 years ago... I hope you find something sweet... I didn't know about Audizine back then and perhaps could of got something better from the classifieds or group buys on here so look through them now that you have some more info..
