Avant Down..

Went around a corner in 4th gear, down shifted into 3rd. doing about 40mph and i hear a loud CLANK CLANK BANG, smoke poors out of my engine compartment. i pull over and all my oil poored out. get the car towed home and started taking it apart. huge hole in my block/oil pan on the turbo side. then on the other side there is also a large whole and what ever flew out of that side broke the peice that connects my motor to the motor mount. i took a few quick pictures. also i went to remove my oil pan and it seems to be stuck... every bolt is removed and i dropped my sub frame so there is plenty of clearnce. im not sure if something is jammed or stuck? or there is just soming stupid that im missing.

now my options..

sell my old turbo set up 2871r elim. and then buy a bottom end, put rods and pistons in it then get a 30r.


sell my car as is with turbo kit, take out a loan and buy an s4.

or.....suggestions

sorry to hear that bud.. hope you get it on the road soon. that's a sick ride you have. you may have thrown a rod or two.

i've been imploring peeps that go BT to get some sort of h beam rods to support that kind of abuse these motors take from BT's. hopefully more people will consider this when going BT in the future.

Looks like i will be picking up a new block this weekend. so my plans right now are..

scat rods and je pistons/rings.
i might just stick with me elim 71r for now. gunna get my motor built then see how much i have left for a new turbo/mani/tune.

ive never rebuilt a 1.8t so any advice is helpful

I'd vote S4 but GL on whatever you decide to do, that must have been a shitty feeling, hope I never experience that....

Shot a rod.. Wow, well, it would be cheaper to get a new block and build it up than getting rid of the entire car.

yeah, im getting a block on saturday. mike is helping me out with some parts to build up my bottom end. hopefully ill pull the motor this weekend....never pulled a 1.8 quattro motor before.

any hints? suggestions?

I'm sorry to hear, but IMHO I'd get a new block and build it. 30s and 35s are faster then most stage3+ s4's. Good luck with what ever you decide.

do to just graduating highschool going into college money is pretty low. so im going to bore out my stock block to a 1.9 and keep my 71r. then hopefully go 30r in the fall.
