He's owned it for 5 years and it's a 2000, so he didn't buy it new. My guess is he paid a shop for the stage 3 stuff and other mods. Add in the shop time and yeah, he's easily in it for 70 g's..May be a case of more dollars than sense...

I know, im not defending the guy, just saying if he has had it tuned at torque factory im sure they would recognize the owner/car and can vouche for him if the numbers are even in the ballpark. At least I hope my tuners would after spending that much money.

It's 70k including the price of the car..these cars were not dirt cheap 5 years ago when he bought it..I'm not defending the claims at all, just saying it's not hard to rack up huge amounts of money spent between parts and labor on these cars when putting it into a shop for mods...

Im not sticking up for the guy, but its not impossible to blow $70k (Im sure that is a rounded off number). If he did not do any of the work, it would easly rack up quickly. Even with the proper maintence, it gets expensive if your not hands on.

    Re: is this guy serious??

    From auction:

Q: whole lotta questions: 1. what octane was the car dyno'd on? 2. Mustang dyno? 3. what hoses are in the rs4 kit underneath? 4. how many # of boost do you run? 5. any build threads on audi websites? 6. do you have the OEM wheels as well? thanks! - e.Mills Jun-15-08
A: Hi and thanks for your inquiry. 1. Car had Sunoco 100 which is really like 96 octane. 2. I am not sure of the dyno type, but for reference sake, my car was the second fastest Stage 3+ and the fastest was only 10hp faster and it had test pipes my car has catalytics. 3. The hoses are oem except for the TBB and of course the stainless DUH intercooler hoses. 4. The boost peaks at 19 and tapers to 17lbs. 5. No build threads, although I do frequent audiworld 6. I do not have the oem wheels, however I do have an extra set of Michelin Pilot Alpin Snow tires that come with the car.

If he is talking sh_t or not...what parts would make his car produce 454whp at 19psi and my stage 3 produce 378whp at 22psi. Oh wait...I guess raising the boost for the pull with race gas would help?

Exactly. And if he bought the car 5 years ago, he most likely still paid in the 30k range for it. So figure 40k in parts and labor, roughly.

Seller is legit, believe he had some problems early on putting on used parts and such and had to redo the work. The dyno used is a well known one South of Denver, numbers are usually a tad bit high. He is fairly comfortable occupationally and likes to play around with his cars, $70k probably isnt too far off.

    Re: is this guy serious??

I know a guy over here in the uk that's spent a good £40k on his S4, so $80k, still only at around 400bhp, that included buying the car, but it did break......a lot! Lots of money gone towards labour, engines been out a few times now, for clutch, then turbos, then more turbos, along with a ton of other replacements, parts.

So can easily spend $70k, but that doesn't neccessarily mean that's all on new uprated parts and doing all the work just once. So although that amount of money could've been spent in total over the time of wnership, it's not always fair to reflec that in the price, just looks good on paper.

For example I ecently spent $2k on an exhaust.......a lot of money, sounds like a good expensive system, but no the 1st one I bought sucked, built all wrong, so bought another, then there's fitting for both!
