    HARDWIRE V1 Radar

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello

Will be using fuse taps to hardwire my V1. Which fuse should I use(I want it switched, not constant), I know it has to be a mini, but should I use an unused one like washer heaters(will it even get power?) What amp fuse should I use and which side should I tap? (when facing the fuse box, left leg or right leg). Thanks

If he's using an actual fuse tap it does. In theory if he goes on the "power side" of the fuse there is (in theory) no fusing before that fuse and thus if something was to go awry, the fuse wouldn't blow it would just keep sending power the the V1.

Op, your v1 hardwire kit comes with a fused lead right? You're not just hacking up the cigarette lighter plug I assume? Ideally I would recommend going straight to the ignition harness for power.

You are right, I just looked at the kit in the box and it does come with a fused lead. So I assume it therefor doesnt matter matter which side then? Should I just tap 31 then I guess..Whats the amp of that fuse, is it sufficient? Maybe the radio fuse...

    Re: HARDWIRE V1 Radar

Well, personally I would avoid the radio fuse: I have my Passport 8500 hooked up to the radio acc on the car I'm currently drive and it bugs me if I pull in to a grocery store parking lot (which sets off the K band most of the time) and turn the car to acc to listen to the radio. Personally I'd tie it to an ignition wire so that the radar detector is only on when the engine is running.

Theoretically the backup lights should work, but I am unaware as to to how much current that line is rated for.
