    another successful clear corner mod

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
finally got around to doing this.. i figured out that halogens are a pain in the ass since u cant remove the projector to take the reflector out so u have to slide it under the housing. (takes a while since u have to cut the reflector in pieces) nonetheless i got it done anyway. also, i highly advise using a small drill bit to break the reflector tabs. it came out alot cleaner with only a single pin hole..while the silicone dried i did the stealth bulbs mod front and rear.. heres some pics, enjoy!

Indeed it is. Bulbs have to come out and it seems there is less space to take out the reflector. lorvar, GtiRSmiley, and I had a "learn-as-you-go" process when we did mine yesterday.

Cut the reflector? I just raised the level of the lights and it slid right out.

Similar to the method described on a4mods, however you have to remove the amber bulb, open the backing, take out the auto-leveling motor (so you can tilt the lights up), remove the center bulb (high beam) via the silver backing (so you can tilt the lights up), then tilt the housing up so you can slide out the reflector.

Re: another successful clear corner mod

the hardest part was taking out the auto-leveling motor, and becareful not to touch the center bulb when u take it out .. cant have any oil or dirt on those $$$$$ bulbs

then just play around with the housing until the reflector just slides right out from underneath

ps. thanks for that mix CD WiZZLa, love it!

To the OP, did ur ambers blink "dimmer" in the fronts after u painted em silver? i just did mine now, and yeah theyve dimmed greatly even though i did a very thin coat...when i did my rears on my old tails they never dimmed, but the fronts did :(

they seem a little dimmer when on as daytime running lights but blink at the ame brightness.. i actually like how it makes the running lights duller. there should be the slightest coat of paint on it to make this work; the bulb will even have a small yellow tint to it

Go to A4mods.com. Did it to mine and had to shake the entire housing to get the reflector out. Not hard. You can do it!!!

Re: another successful clear corner mod

xenon lights are easy with the self leveler. if you unhook the leveling arm after you remove your bulbs, the highbeam reflector lifts up just enough to slide the amber corner out underneath the highbeam. Makes life extremely easy. There was a writeup on it somewhere. I thought that's how it's explained on a4mods? or is that just the halogen process? If it's not explained on there, search in here and vwvortex. It's covered in one of the forums.

Without the condensation/fog. Still needs to be cleaned up with some compressed air.

It's been about 1 week since I did the o-ring fix, and it held up even through 3 days of thunderstorms. I just hope the new o-ring isn't too big to hamper anything the shaft is supposed to do.

glad to hear it worked.. dont quote me on this but i believe the shaft is only used to adjust the headlights manually so that shoudnt be a problem if it has limited movement
