Saw the new B8 in the the Vaterland

I was in Germany on business this past week and saw a few of the new Audi B8 A4's tooling around.

Bad news: The B8 Avant looks more egg-like in person than the B6 & B7's, and not in a good way. The rear end is reminiscent of the mid-nineties Ford Taurus's. People thinking for an "upgrade" might want to look at the A5 instead.

2nd bit of bad news: Gas prices (and insurance changes) in Germany have caused folks to drive a lot slower than on previous visits. In several hundred miles of driving as fast as I could in a Volvo C30 rental (turbo diesel), I wasn't passed once by the typical large Audi/BMW or Porsche. A few Opels and VW's eeked by my top speed of 125mph, but I wasn't barnstormed by one car the entire trip which was a little bit of a letdown :)

Wow, it's sad to think that my kid will probably not experience any hot rodding days when he starts driving. Well, it's kinda sad and kind of a relief! Still........
